Some metaphors about the movie "Lolita"

Madilyn 2021-12-22 08:01:32

I haven't finished reading the original "Lolita". Although I have full admiration for its author Nabokov, the writing style of this work makes me really unable to read it. However, it seems that this novel is very popular in the film and television industry. Director Adrian Ryan put it on the screen again in 1997 after it was first published in black and white in 62 years. Jeremy Irons and Dominic Swan worked hand in hand to interpret a touching story of an abnormal love.
I don’t intend to make an overall review of him, but as a literary film, its music, light, and many lens details are treated with depressive metaphors. Some people even mentioned that there was a "climax" in it. The lake symbolizes the climax of sex. So I just pick out a few more obvious metaphorical objects from the film, and make a proper analysis of their psychological connotations.
The first metaphor: The feet are
first of all Lolita's legs and feet. There is no denying that this is a licentious object. From the close-up of Alo’s legs in the stunning appearance of the erotic classic to her feet stomping wet on Han Potter’s trouser legs, her seduction of Han Potter until the final defection, Alo Na Linglong His legs and feet took up a lot of shots, and those meaningful actions always stirred Han Potter's erotic desires, pinning all his desires and intentions for Lolita. Three years later, he found Alor again, and it was these legs and feet who appeared in the lazy and worldly image of slippers and shattered the beautiful impression of its healthy and wheat-colored skin in Han Potter's mind.
The second metaphor: mouth
After talking about the legs, let's talk about it. Another recurring shot in this movie is Lolita's mouth. It seems that her mouth has never been idle, eating gum, bananas, that kind of chewing stuff. From Freud's point of view, the mouth is also an important sexual organ. It is full and open. Lolita's chin moves, and her kiss whispers the lust of a young woman who is not the right age for her. In the film, Han Potter repeatedly expressed dissatisfaction with her behavior of eating chewing gum and sticking around, and there was even a scene where he tried to take out her mouth and throw it away. Here I can interpret it as Han Porter's sense of instability. He is aware of Allor's leaping nature and her instability. It is precisely because of this openness of the mouth that he feels the perilous nature of his body that he is trying to monopolize has the potential for betrayal. Han Potter finally won. He pinched Delly’s nose and even threw the thing out of the car; but in fact he was a decadent loser. Allor left him and fell into Cuidi’s arms. She Saying he was the real man she met, "What about me?" Allo smiled and put on a cigarette. He was not even her first lover. He was insignificant and unneeded. Han Potter finally went completely desperate until here.
The third metaphor:
There is another very interesting detail about the beard : Lolita leaves Hanpot to buy bananas, and he shaves his beard halfway through. After returning, I noticed the presence of another man. Shaving here is a very interesting detail. The beard is a symbol of patriarchy. Han Potter's love for Lori is not only erotic, but also possessive, and his father's power cannot be violated. However, in the process of shaving his beard, this kind of patriarchy was infringed. As the beard was shaved, he was stripped and lost. This was Han Porter's helpless premonition. In the end, Han Potter discovered the contact between Lori and Cui Di, and he madly threw her down, had sex with her madly, and vented his anger on her. In this place, I noticed that Arlo’s lipstick was somewhat messy-this is very suspicious, because Cui Di may be really impotent, of course this does not prevent him from kissing her-but Han Potter's lips are Putting Lolita's lipstick completely in a mess. This man contained grief and anger. Although he was not her first lover nor the real man in her heart, he was destined to bear the taint charge alone.
Background and climax
I don't expect that I can completely deconstruct this work. It is a luxury to talk about love and humanity in my situation. So I just look at the details. Han Porter's first love died of a typhoid fever when he was fourteen, and that deep imprint made his love stay forever in the scratch-like memory of the fourteen-year-old girl. In the film, I noticed that his feelings for mother and daughter are complicated. In order to stay with his daughter, he had to accept his identity as a stepfather. In order to avoid the widow, he would not hesitate to use drugs and even use vicious ridicule to describe a poor ignorant. He understood the most evil of life. When the woman died, he put the scissors she used to pry open the drawer into the drawer and closed it, and then packed up and went on the journey. This meant that he was separated from the past. I don’t know if he felt guilty for her. .
The plot of this movie is logical, and I don't want the 62nd edition to be as close to the original as full of weirdness. Cuidy's first appearance-the time with the dog, we desperately learned that Lori would eventually follow him, so all her subsequent actions became boring after the label of purpose. On the contrary, Cui Di's final appearance brought out a point of excitement. A real man who was obsessed by Lori turned out to be a cowardly perverted impotence! This great turning point and dislocation gave people a strong impact that broke the psychological expectations. His death also has a strong symbolic meaning. The incompetent person’s analysis of the event once again broke our original understanding. The fictional writing of that piece of piano music vividly portrayed the transfer behavior of people under extreme conditions until the end. I have to lie down on the bed and tell Han Porter to get away-the narrative rhythm of this murder episode is as gorgeous as blue velvet, which combines the dream of a young girl, the confession and atonement of a middle-aged man, and a man who is also engaged in pornography. The writer's triple rupture spread layer by layer, pushing the film to its climax.

Barking dogs, shrill rain, red cherries and lips, simple and complex people. Is it the plow flower or the begonia that is white and dirty? Lolita, an angel of curiosity or a demon of desire? Is this life heaven or hell? "What echoes in my ears is the laughter of children. I am not suffering because there is no Lolita around, but because there is no her voice in this laughter"... How can love be so deep and so gray?
