Born in nature, finally nature

A man has been with grizzly bears for thirteen years, observing them, protecting them, and promoting them to people. In the end, he and his lover were killed by the grizzly bears. Some people would call this a kind of irony, but I even more I would like to call it a fate, a fate born in nature and finally natural. I don’t want to beautify death by bad feelings, but after watching this "Grizzly Bear Man" which records the deeds of the bear lover-Treadwell, I can't help but feel a touch. Yes, my heart is touched. Touched by the closeness of a big boy-like citizen of nature to nature.
This documentary uses a large number of video materials taken by Treadwell over the past 13 years and interviews with his relatives and friends to show us the story of a pure "natural person". It’s crazy to spend months in the wilderness and forest every year, especially if you are in contact with one of the most dangerous animals in the world, but Treadwell has fallen in love with those grizzly bears since his first trip to Alaska. Go to the kind of life that blends with nature. It is difficult for us ordinary people to understand his "non-mainstream" hobby. We can't believe that a person is willing to put himself in a dangerous situation for a long time. Therefore, I believe this must be because there is transcendence in that nature. This dangerous thing is calling Treadwell. Just like the high snow mountains constantly beckoning climbers, the grizzly bears of Alaska also beckoning him in the depths of Treadwell’s soul, allowing him to embark on his grizzly journey time and time again; just like many climbers sleeping in Snow Mountain, Treadwell also left his life in Alaska, nature is sometimes cold and heart-palpiting.
Treadwell often explained the life of the black bear alone in front of the camera, or talked to himself. Sometimes, in front of the camera, he was a little nervous and a little childish. He will talk to grizzly bears in a voice shouting lover; he will be pleasantly surprised by a few foxes breaking into the camp and treat them as partners; he will pray angrily for rain during the drought, and he will be there when it really rains. Under the tent that was about to be crushed by the rain, he was as excited as a child. This is an "immature" person. He can't even understand the existence of carnivorous phenomena in the food chain. In his diary, he shows his incomprehension about human civilization, so he stepped into the embrace of nature again and again, and thus nature’s The magical charm makes him more "immature", it seems that only nature can make him forget so much unhappiness. He is a "radical" person. He disdains the official protection of wild animals. After the conflict between him and the official intensified, he hysterically mocked and insulted the reserve administrator and even the human society in a video.
The film does a good job of Treadwell’s death, even though I have a cruel curiosity and fear about the record. In the end, because Treadwell did not have time to open the cover of the camera, only the final recording of the recording did not appear in the film. The final story of Treadwell and Amy was told by a coroner, as a person engaged in dealing with corpses every day. For people who work in, it seems that they should have a kind of calmness that is beyond ordinary people. Yes, the old coroner narrated the last recording he heard in a calm tone, but he didn't seem to be completely calm, so emotional words were still added to the narration. We know that a grizzly bear broke into the camp, it severely wounded Treadwell, making him dying, and then tried to attack Amy, Amy tried to blast it away, at this time Treadwell shouted in a weak voice, "Flee! Let go! Run away, run away!". However, this woman did not run away. When faced with death, she did not shrink back, and resisted side by side with her lover. After six minutes, she stopped resisting, and the two died together, staying in the wilderness of Alaska forever. This is an imaginable thrilling and tragic scene. This is another touching story of shared suffering. Treadwell loves grizzly bears, but finally he was killed by grizzly bears, and the grizzly bear was killed by rescuers. Cruelty, this is the true cruelty of nature. This documentary shows us the charm and cruelty of nature, just like the "irresistible indifference of nature" in the film.
This is a fairly original documentary. No special post-processing is done, nature is not deliberately rendered more beautiful, nor is it deliberately rendered more sinister. Instead, it uses Treadwell’s records and stories to show a better one. The real nature is shocking and touching. It seems to be a kind of destiny. In the video recording a few hours before his death, he said to the camera lens that Amy was holding, "I have tried hard, I bleed for them, I live for them, I Die because of them, I love them!" He really loved grizzly bears, loved this land of grizzly bears, and died in the world of grizzly bears, leaving behind the stories he allowed the world to comment on.

Herzog saw nature very well and, like Conrad, had no illusions. On the contrary, Timothy, like Peter Pan, would rather be immersed in his own world and be willing to pay for it. How could anyone say this is romance/idealism? ! This kind of literary projection is really evil. The only trace of romance seeps through Herzog's cool build, not from Timothy.

One of my starter films for documentaries. No matter what the ending he chooses, he likes it.

Grizzly Man quotes

  • Sam Egli: Treadwell was, I think, meaning well. Trying to do things to help the resource of the bears. But, to me, he was acting like he was working with people wearing bear costumes out there, instead of wild animals. Those bears are big and ferocious and they come equipped to kill you and eat you and that's just what Treadwell was asking for. He got what he was asking for. He got what he deserved, in my opinion. The tragedy of it was taking the girl with him. I think the only reason that Treadwell lasted as long in the game as he did, was that the bears probably thought there was something wrong with him, like he was mentally retarded or something. That bear, I think, that day, decided that he had either had enough of Tim Treadwell or that something clicked in that bear's head that he thought 'Hey, you know, he might be good to eat.' My opinion, I think Treadwell thought these bears were big, scary looking, harmless creatures that he could go up and pet and sing to, and they would bond as children of the universe or some odd. I think he had lost sight of what was really going on.

Timothy Treadwell: Oh, goddamn it! I can't believe this! GHOST! Ghost, where's that fucking hat? That hat is so frigging valuable for this trip. Ghost, you come back here with that friggin' hat. If it's in the den, I'm gonna fucking explode.
