Depth of faith

This movie is very good. The Oscar's best foreign language film is given to "Ada", which is the glory of the Oscar.
As far as film is concerned, or in the broader "literary and artistic" range, few authors can reach this depth.
This movie is beneficial to non-Christians and a large number of Christians who have very little faith.
And the author is wise. He chose a simple perspective: a girl, before she swore to become a nun, before she resolved to dedicate herself to God, she experienced a kind of "preparation", in terms of the depth of faith, This is just the beginning.

After hesitating for a long time, I wanted to say something about this movie, but I knew I didn't deserve it. Not being unworthy as a movie audience (or critic), but as a very shallow believer, I am not qualified to make irresponsible remarks about this work.

What is the depth of faith or faith life (religious life)? For believers, what is the direction of life? This is a doctrinal question. Protestants are almost ignorant of this issue.

Last year, I felt that there was a very special phenomenon, perhaps only a few people noticed it,-there are not many people like me who have converted to the church from the vows of rebellion. Generally speaking, the movie is centered on Hollywood and reflected " The theme of "Faith" is mostly American mainstream culture based on Protestant teachings. I have always called it "Hollywood Humanism." Hollywood humanism does not talk about "God" but talks about "God". This talk about "God". "Humanism, in essence, belongs to the world, far from true beliefs. ——There are two films that reflect the content of Catholicism (Christianity) that have attracted attention in the field of popular culture (the other is "The Fourteen Stations of the Sad Road", and the title can see the obvious characteristics of the Catholic Church). In fact, within the scope of popular culture, many Christian works have been Protestantized and made humanistic interpretations.

There is very little dialogue in this film, and there is no doctrinal analysis. The theme presented in the work through the image is very simple: the world is unattractive.

When nuns swear to practice the religion, they must make three vows to God: holiness, mercy and obedience.

For the Protestants, they do not recognize the sacrament of sacrament at all, and they have no way of understanding it. These three vows are exactly the theme of the film.

What is holiness? As far as the production of a film is concerned, what makes the film very commendable is the success in shaping the image of Ada. In the black-and-white images, we know that she has red hair and is covered with a turban, as if a certain nature of our (human) is covered up, "red hair" can be interpreted as related to "rebellion" in semantics. . She was a Jew, survived the massacre, was adopted by the church (monastery), and grew up in a seminary. As a Jew, she is unlikely to become a nun (a Christian). This is not in line with the traditions of her ethnic group. So what is she? Who, who is it first? Is it a Jewish girl, or a girl who has grown up in a seminary and has developed a good character? An "identity" question was handed to her, and she had to answer it herself. At the beginning of this "root-seeking" journey, my aunt asked her: Do you have any thoughts of crime? She said yes. My aunt asked again about the physical lust? She said no. —— What we see in the video is such a (credible) quiet and pure girl, looking at the world through her eyes (she has never been anywhere), what is there, as a life, Fascinating place. ——Such a girl, she is so different from this world and other people, with the holiness of God, she instinctively resents and resists temptation, she does not judge, and she does not think she is holy, she comes from a certain innocence Motivation Wants to understand the other possibilities of the road of life. Regarding all kinds of love and secular life, she finally made it clear that she did not love and did not yearn for the future of secular life. She was going back to the seminary, almost with the urge to return to the seminary with enthusiasm and devotion, where she was beloved, her home, although on the surface, life in the seminary was unavoidable.

The great deception caused by the great Renaissance is that in the eyes of the world, the Middle Ages is a dark age with no sky, imprisoning human nature, represented by the seminary life. Ada has not been contaminated by secular culture. She doesn’t see anything good in this world. She has pity and sympathy for her slut and aunt, just like accepting that she is a Jew. She loves the wandering musician of Gypsy descent (Posey). Mia’s status as a “literary and artistic” status), and even willing to try a relationship with him, but she doesn’t love this relationship. It is not him that she wants to “know”. She understands that what she loves is only her hands. There is no substitute for the God on the icon. For Ada, if something better can attract her, she can give up her faith. She has reasons to do so. She was originally Jewish. She is even persuading herself to give up and want to learn to give up. She just can't do it, can't do it. It is possible not to return to the embrace of God.

This is the unique perspective of this purely narrative film.

When burying the remains of her parents in the Jewish cemetery, Ada hesitated for a moment when she painted the hand of the cross (the sign of the cross means the Holy Trinity of God, not the vague "God"), and she truly retreated before taking the oath. She told God that I was not ready yet. During the ceremony, her tears slipped down. The meaning of that line of tears was beyond words. While experiencing the mood of the characters, the audience was touched. It was not so much an inner struggle as it was an inner struggle. It's a sadness to leave. Aunt gave up herself in depravity and despair. From the perspective of the Jewish community after the war, this was not only a personal tragedy, but Ada's identification of her identity became a symbol in this sense. ——Ada wants to know, is there any reason why I can not be a nun?

The difference here is that what Ada wants to convince herself is not to be a nun, but not to be a nun. ——She just can't do it.

The monastic system of the Catholic Church is absolutely not persecuted. Any student who chooses to study at the School of Theology and Philosophy will become a priest in the future. In seven years, he can withdraw at any time. The same is true for nuns. The seminary will not only give you time, but will also persuade you. Think twice. After all, the vows before God are not made casually.

The depth of the life of faith is this passive subordination, in the thirst, close to the Lord, calmly, and not reluctantly, meet with Him. There is no reluctance to give up in this world.

The simplicity of the film's form and the theme are all in touch, and the narrative seems "simple", but it can make people breathless.
