Machine Gun Girlfriend [From Li Zongheng Film Critic]

Did Billy Wilder remake this film in the 1970s? It's called "The Wind and Rain in the City"? I remember that it was the most tiring Wilder movie I watched. I remember that Quentin’s Top Ten has this one, and even the note written in Quentin’s "Born Murderer" script: Here is the same line as "Girlfriend Friday"! Ha ha! The machine gun comedy performance is really wonderful, and the narratives and various metaphors in the lines are enough to show that Quentin likes it. Taking newspapers and media as the themes, portraying the ugliness and ridiculousness of the media industry. Is there such a film or script today? Write a group of soft-text dogs, or a group of announcement dogs? There is nothing new under the moon. 8 points/10

Rewatching, I was still shocked by the actor's skill in interpreting Overlap's dense lines and Hawkes's mirroring and editing, but I still hated the ending. Since everyone is not a good bird, how come the protagonist with the halo is reunited.

The highlights of this film are: the relatively complicated tracking shot in the opening scene, the continuous and often overlapping dialogue (it will be a bit tiring after seeing it); the ambiguity of the cruel utilitarianism of the journalists who only dig up hot spots and ignore human life sarcasm; vague attitude towards independent women. What's uncomfortable is that many so-called comedy spots are making fun of the weak (the honest or the bottom), which is very unkind. A good comedy should laugh at itself or at powerful people

  • Hildy Johnson: I'm getting married tomorrow.

Bensinger: What, again? Are we invited to the wedding?

Hildy Johnson: Well, I might need you for a bridesmaid, Roy.
