It’s hard to find resources. A movie I watched last night, I personally think it’s not bad, "Death Divination 2: The Origin of the Evil".
The story took place in Los Angeles in 1967, when an American retro style was blown on the face. A mother and her two daughters used divination to deceive to make a living. The father died early, and the two daughters had little fatherly love since they were young, and they were supported by their mother alone. Director Mike Flanagan, I have seen "Before Awakening" directed by him before, starring in "The Room" Xiaozhengtai Jacob, the plot is average, and it didn't leave me too much impression. The difference in this movie is that the little girl, Doris, has an acting speed of 180 yards per hour.
Missing her father too much, Doris tried to summon her father through the psychic board. (The rules for using the psychic board: 1. Can't play alone, 2. Can't play in the cemetery, 3. Remember to say goodbye) What I did not expect is that Doris summons evil spirits (Polish Marcus: Used for experimentation) Victim) After the evil spirit possessed Doris, his behavior became more and more weird. The mother with low IQ didn't notice it. She thought all this was amazing. The female protagonist whose IQ was on the line noticed that Doris was getting worse, and told the priest about it. When the priest came to this house and got out of the car with his bag to look at the house, the scene reminded me of "The Exorcist" in 1973. Of course, this movie cannot be compared with "The Exorcist". In 1973, "The Exorcist" can be described as a pioneer in exorcism, with a more cult style, and it is also the one I like the most.
This movie is called the mini version of "Call of Souls", but it is far from it. After all, Wen Ziren is better at jumping scare. But in terms of the overall style, towards retro colors, the horror atmosphere and character emotions are all rendered in place. Especially the ending, not everyone is happy, more interesting, I did not expect it. I thought the family would be rescued like in "Calling the Souls", but faith would not do anything at all. Although the ending is not in line with the normal horror movie, it is almost the same as the "Unknown Woman Corpse" I watched some time ago, and the director wants to make a sequel.
