The success of the film is first of all the success of the screenwriter. The film is based on the true stories of two runners. The situation of the two is different. In fact, they don’t have much time to meet each other, but the screenwriter has skillfully intertwined their experiences so that they mirror and complement each other. Weilund's talent lies not so much in writing memorable words or characters, but rather in designing an expressive overall structure that makes the combination of the two possible. When narrating this story about the 1924 Paris Olympic Games, Velende was also very keenly aware that the film must show the characteristics and spiritual atmosphere of the time. The film involves a retrospect of anti-Semitism and extreme national chauvinism, especially serious discussion of personal struggle and unremitting pursuit. In the latter aspect, Weilund's plays are particularly closely related to the literature of that period.
