This film is adapted from real people and things, which is why it has such a powerful force. Real stories are far more powerful than fictional presentations. Especially this kind of film about racial discrimination, although I have seen and talked about the unfair treatment of many blacks, but seeing the film is even more shocking. I am touched by the perseverance of these debaters to fight for power for black people with intense arguments, by the resistance of this teacher with actions inside and outside the school, and by the force of concerted efforts in times of crisis... To obliterate the unfair treatment of history, to make the world more fair and more loving, this may be a little bit of the shock that we can experience. The power of language. My weapon are my words. Said several debaters at Wiley College in Texas. And they convinced me with action. On the Harvard debate stage, when Little Farmer used the most sincere and thought-provoking arguments to impress everyone present, it also impressed me. It is difficult to use words to deconstruct the feeling, as if suddenly infused with the power to challenge the world and helplessness. This is the effect that inspirational films can bring to us, and "Intensive Debate" is very successful in this regard.
Although the background is racial discrimination in the United States in the first half century, its meaning transcends time and space. The film shows the wonderfulness of debate as an art, and also reflects the value and belief in it. Discourse is a powerful weapon of enlightenment. As long as there is injustice, The truth must be spoken, speak the truth! I have been used to the irrelevant debates of Chinese people using laughter skills instead of witty speculation, thinking that debate is a game of intrigue, and now I realize that debate is an art, which shows the rhetorical quality and intellectual knowledge. Tact and passion are the epitome of human civilization. After the debates, what is inspiring is not only the ensuing victory, but also the thing behind the victory—the unyielding faith and courage in the face of various setbacks. Debate is a powerful declaration to society, because tongue is the most powerful weapon for the powerless, and rational voice is a powerful action to resist injustice and pursue ideals. Therefore, it is not difficult to understand that there will be people like Martin Luther King in this country, who use the passion of life to give speeches and lead the affirmative movement to make dreams come true. This is a very good movie, at least that's what I think. After watching the film, I went to watch James Farmer II’s final speech again, closed my eyes, and realized the anger, helplessness, hope, and dream contained in those words. Maybe a good movie can bring these thoughts is really enough!
