One of the female debaters is a roommate of a girl I like. This is the whole reason I went to see it.
In the entire debate, there were 1/3 nonsense, 1/3 storytelling, and 1/3 cross talk.
Later I knew why the referee decided to win or lose this mentally handicapped game, because the referee was the most defeated. they know nothing about debate.
What is the power of language? In the age of pursuing "doing", the power of language is what makes people feel noisy.
Even if you are in love these days, the heart and lungs dug out by the truth are far less powerful than the diamonds piggybacked by lies.
If you do work these days, the sincerity expressed by the truth is far less powerful than the flattery made by idioms.
If you listen to the debate these days, the truth represented by the proverbs is far less interesting than the sound of Degang's talk.
We start to hate long talks and refuse to think. Because it's not easy for us to live, it's not easy.
Our souls that have been purified by language are obliterated by reality.
"What is the biggest weakness of people?"
"Distrust, doubt."
This is a seemingly casual dialogue in this movie.
We no longer believe in the power of language, because reality makes us doubt.
We no longer believe in the power of faith, because we no longer trust anyone, even ourselves.
We no longer believe in the power of thought, because we have no time to think.
"This is a battle, and tongue is our weapon."
Powerful language changes people's thoughts, people's thoughts determine your behavior, and everyone's behavior changes the world.
If you must pick a shortcoming of this film, the only logical flaw in the film is that the problems encountered by the black debate team are all squares of truth, which makes their language always so powerful.
