Backfired

This is a film that is easily forgotten, because there are not many Catholics among us, and this film is precisely about the philosophical speculation of Catholicism. For those of us who are not religious, it is quite unbelievable to watch it. It's easy. Father James is a good pastor, pious and upright. One day a confessor came and told James that he would kill him because he had never done anything wrong. He has only one week to be united with the spirit of God. James takes care of all kinds of fallen and helpless people. He will visit these people and perhaps find suspects among them. According to the normal film logic, he would definitely find the murderer who was going to kill him, and accidentally killed the murderer when the two sides confronted each other, but the only thing I remember about this film is it and most films. It is different. It has an incomprehensible sad ending. The kind-hearted people are finally killed innocently. This is unacceptable to many kind people, especially those with obsessive-compulsive disorder. Why do good people have such an ending? What does this film want to express? I think it means to say that this world is not as simple as you think, or developing according to your ideas, it is often counterproductive. There are still many dark things in this world that you haven't encountered. It doesn't mean that it happens all the time. Although this is the case, I still hope that literary works can bring more positive energy to everyone. Should we hold all the heavy topics for a lifetime?

In the last half hour, I started to exert my strength. Generally speaking, it is still a lower rank than his brother.

The sins of the wicked usually have to be paid for by the good. Jesus' cross is a victory for Satan, and it is even more of a mediocre sorrow.

Calvary quotes

  • Father James Lavelle: He was a good man, your husband?

Teresa: Yes. He was a good man. We had a very good life together. We loved each other very much. And now... he has gone. And that is not unfair. That is just what happened. But many people don't live good lives. They don't feel love. That is why it's unfair. I feel sorry for them.

  • Father Leary: Things you hear in confession these days. It's depressing.

Father James Lavelle: You have to detach yourself from it. We're here to provide solace. Your personal feelings don't come into it.

Father Leary: I know that. What do you take me for? It's difficult, though, the mess people make of their lives.

Father James Lavelle: What's the problem? Without going into details, obviously.

Father Leary: Your one with the big black eye on her. Have you seen her?

Father James Lavelle: Veronica Brennan, yeah.

Father Leary: She's an odd one. The things she comes out with. It's like she's trying to drag you down into the muck. Do you know what felching is?

Father James Lavelle: I do know what felching is, yeah.

Father Leary: I had to look it up.

Father James Lavelle: This is you not going into details, is it?
