According to folklore, Jeremiah is a true traitor. He even called on the people to give up resistance and accept God's judgment when Jerusalem was under siege. According to the official statement, Jeremiah’s tongue apparently also committed the crime of inciting subversion of the country. The tragedy of nationalism is due to the lack of sacred values higher than the state, and the difference between Qin Hui and Qu Yuan can never be distinguished. But Jeremiah is different from Qu Yuan. They represent two types of intellectuals, one accusing others and the other cursing oneself.
Qu Yuan was raising his eyes to ask the sky, not bowing his head to repent. Qu Yuan cursed the temple, not himself. After admonishing and warning his country, Jeremiah kept sending out the most worrying lament in human history. He said, why didn't I die in my mother's womb so that my mother could be my grave? If the things we accuse, the sins we see, and the emptiness we encounter, there is no definite hope of being reversed; a prophet is an office where life is better than death.

Taiyu suddenly remembered his childhood and said, when I was 5 years old, you wanted to kill me.
At that moment I thought of Jeremiah's curse. The moving image of a loving mother in the first half experienced the first collapse. This is a masterpiece beyond the genre of commercial films that cannot be classified. South Korean director Bong Joon-ho used the appearance of a suspenseful crime film to touch on many social and life sufferings, but like Jeremiah, he did not point the main target at social criticism, but went deep into motherhood to sting sinfulness.
Even many Christians do not like Jeremiah's faith. Because of true faith, drag people back to the scene first. Hope in the ruins of death is true hope.
The so-called human nature is love that cannot be sustained in the sinful nature. The same is true of motherhood. The director used a cold and gloomy lens to portray a mother who loves her son with all her heart, but still can't get rid of the power of evil. Later, Taiyu's mother learned the truth from a tattered old man, and her son did kill someone by mistake.
This was the second breakdown that her mother could not bear. In her anger, she killed the old man and destroyed the body. The police found a scapegoat, an orphan without parents. The mother wailed in front of the same youthful face. But her remorse is only regrettable for death, because she is unable to tell the truth and return to goodness. This third collapse made my mother feel ashamed.
The last time Taiyu was released from prison, the memory of the crime scene gradually approached the truth. His mother decided to take him away from his hometown. At the station, Taiyu suddenly took out the acupuncture box his mother had left at the murder scene, and said, why did he accidentally fall into the old man's house?
The mother completely broke down. She fled from her son as if avoiding the plague. If salvation does not exist, maternal love can no longer last, and is not worthy to last. So far, maternal love is also a mental illness.
The director has been ambushing a plot: the mother's magical acupuncture. Just stick a needle at an acupuncture point on the thigh and you can forget everything. When Taiyu was 5 years old, his mother failed to give them pesticides. She couldn't face her son, using this method to make Taiyu amnesia. In the detention center, when her son remembered the past, she begged the police to give her son another shot. She really believes that this is the only way of liberation. So on the bus, everyone danced. Sitting alone, the mother slowly took out the silver needle, pierced it towards her thigh, then got up and joined them.
The beginning and the end of the movie are the most beautiful shots in the whole film, shooting the mother's dance like a flower of evil in full bloom. At the end, the mother joins the crowd, and the director strongly hints that this is just a story among the crowd. This world has been pierced, and this world is full of inexplicable happiness.
Jesus was on the cross, looking at a disciple, and said to his mother, look at your son. Looking at his mother again, he said to his disciples, look at your mother. What he meant was that the blood of Christ shed on the cross surpassed the blood of Adam shed in our body. Because the blood of Christ was used for atonement. So the real hope is that the blood of the soul surpasses the blood of the body.
Soul parents are better than physical parents. So Jeremiah mourned because his country had turned away from the truth. He said that life without grace is so miserable. We are fatherless orphans, and our mothers are like widows. Taiyu's mother is a real widow, not because she lost her husband, but because she lost God. There are only two ways we want to live. One is to believe that the loving God died for us; the other is to be ready to let others die.
When a person like Jeremiah who has suffered so deeply says that I love you with eternal love and I attract you with kindness, who can despise these words? For this reason, I would like to suffer like Jeremiah, lest I suffer like Taewoo's mother.
