Will you run for a million dollars?

Many people think that they will run for a million dollars, but they have never thought about whether you can accept this ridiculous life if you don't outperform.

You never thought about this question:

Suppose a rich man jokingly asks you to run to help him win an unimportant game and get 1 million dollars. What will happen to you?

You may accept the challenge like the conclusion of the famous experiment of putting money on the ground-but you must not have thought about the chagrin and countless times of suffering if you fail to win.

When people approach wealth, they always think that they understand it, but in fact they don’t. You just like the beautiful side of it—you can’t imagine the happiness of rich people, but in fact, the back of money is what you don’t understand. world.

If you can't see the essence of the wealthy class and the other side of wealth, you can't actually grasp the willfulness and freedom it brings.

The above scene appeared in the high-energy HBO American drama "War of Inheritance". This drama uses pseudo-documentary filming techniques to tell the struggles and human pains of a large international chaebol family behind a huge conspiracy. Frankly speaking, I don’t like the shooting method now, like "Lie and Big Lies", except for movies such as "The Night Before the Comet" TV series telling stories in this way is a little bit obscure and trivial. But fortunately, this kind of shooting can also express the subtle changes of people in a cramped environment and the tension in the fragile relationship between people.

In essence, it is still a matter of a small family.

But because it is a family of a huge chaebol family, the family relationship covers all conflict-filled roles: a cruel and shrewd company boss, a tough old man, a clever stepmother who is hated by his children, and a few distinct and different characters. A son, an ambitious daughter, and a son-in-law who has just taken the position--

There is also the most dramatic role: Dad's foreign grandnephew. A small figure who has been beaten up by the bottom class for his IQ abilities from the bottom to the bottom.

The story begins on the birthday of the 80-year-old father.

The cowardly second son who is about to succeed the head of the group failed to negotiate an acquisition. The other party is the founder of a cutting-edge media company in Asia, who is shrewd and strong and does not give him any chance to fight back. He was very frustrated.

Then the arrogant third son, who was not to be outdone, came to the company to provoke his authority. With this panic and anxiety, the birthday party began.

(If you ask the eldest son why he did not succeed, the story is set up like this. The eldest and the half-parents of them do not like to engage in business. He prefers political power, but the essence is to pretend to be a pig and eat a tiger.)

On the other side of the story, the little character's grandnephew "Tu Hanhan" works in an amusement park. He is 192 in height and was bullied by a group of children to kneel on the ground and vomit. He followed his mother's suggestion and went to a distant relative to get a good job, so he came to his grandfather's brother in shabby clothes to celebrate his grandfather's birthday. As soon as he entered the elevator of the mansion apartment, he was tied up as a thief without dignity by the security guard.

This is just the beginning of this story.

The following stories become more and more exciting, just like "The Night Before the Comet", the characters are full of fragile, fragile and tense relationships: the common enemy of the children is the stepmother, and what they love and hate is the owner of the company's real power. Their fathers; their children will dismantle each other for a while, and the seemingly huge trust-like group companies are also full of crises: the uncertainty of mergers and acquisitions, the threat of the company's veterans being resigned by their fathers, more than 3 billion US dollars Debt...

The most interesting thing between these is the level of human nature. For example, the son-in-law who just took the upper ranks, seemingly elegant, is actually very distorted——

In order to please the old man, he was holding a Patek Philippe watch as a birthday gift, but it was not sent out at the end of the banquet. After that, he sent it out and was given to the farmers on the ranch where they were amused by the housekeeper. In this family, he exercises restraint to please everyone. The only person who can vent his superiority is his native nephew from other places, so he regards each other as a tool, saying that he is a family when he needs it, and he scorns him when he doesn’t need it. And mocking (what's even more angry is that this role is actually my favorite 05 version of the arrogant and prejudiced Mr. Darcy!!!).

This seems to be an ordinary business war story.

Every one in the story is in a kind of uneasiness.

And what I want to discuss is that the masses actually lack imagination of the wealthy class—it is hard to imagine the more extreme humanity they show when they are infinitely close to power: sorrow, courage, cowardice, greed, conspiracy, and humble desire for love.

Yes, love.

I have always held a point of view: When looking at the world from a macro perspective, the rich and the poor have essentially the same sense of alienation from happiness. In other words, happiness does not increase or decrease due to wealth or poverty. This conclusion comes from a well-known British sociological experiment. The investigators sampled 30 children of various classes and followed them for 30 years. The conclusion is that not many have changed their native class through themselves, and their distance to happiness is relatively equal.

In other words, the rich are not much happier than the poor, because the pain they face is not simply solved by money, or in other words, the wealth and power they pursue is different from that of our ordinary class.

I wrote in a previous article that the only wealth in the world that does not flow and distribute according to class is probably love.

Back to this story. On the surface, the contradictions in such stories may be greed, power, and conspiracy. But what I see is the lack of love.

In order to control and gain power, the 80 -year-old man, the head of the group , did not hesitate to use a series of conspiracies to evade the power of their children, and to crush their dignity and confidence. The most insulting scene was when he returned to the company after recovering from a serious illness , peeing in the office of the son who succeeded the CEO ...

The follow-up story is even more outrageous. It can be said that all the wicked people, a group of people are extremely humane and ugly for unnecessary benefits.

Of course, you can say that wealth and power are real things. They make people have power and dignity. Like "Parasite" said, they may also make people more kind.

Everyone in this story family is like a tool man wearing a mask, which makes people very uncomfortable or even depressing. Above the mask are their hypocrisy, desire, cunning, and the standard hypocrisy of the extremely restrained upper class. Under the mask is not alive, but like a puppet that has lost its soul, living for a pattern.

They have not received the warmth and steady and continuous love of their father as a normal person since they were young. Just like the children in the study room of the ancient emperor’s house, they were nurtured as tool people, killed as tool people, and used as tool people. They included themselves, and they also abused themselves in an infinite loop. .

When love becomes a particularly thin and scarce thing;

Wealth and power appear to be inflexible and vigorous, and are a kind of sacrifice to humanity.

The follow-up of the story suggests that you go and watch this 9.2- point HBO drama.

At the end, I suddenly thought of some children in "The Metamorphosis", just like some people in this story, they are very smart and will master social resources when they grow up. But I never envy children who are more complete and wealthy than my family, probably because I have seen more crippled souls and poor souls under abundance since I was a child.

Under the barrenness, there is no winner.

Many people feel that they will order 100 million dollars to run their lives, just thought if not outperform, can you accept that life is a joke.
