At the end of the movie, the young reporter Thompson used the answer to "Rosebud" that was not an answer: Kane got everything he wanted and lost it all. The "rose bud" may be something he didn't get, maybe it was something he lost. The sleigh that Kane used to play when he was young slowly appeared in the camera, and the words "rose bud" slowly emerged as he approached. The movie seems to imply that leaving the innocent and beautiful life too early makes Kane like an apple that has been ripened. What he always misses is those unfettered and green times, but the past cannot be reproduced. Once he enters the adult world, he must compromise and hide his innocence, but because he regrets from time to time, he uses his incomprehensible wicked childlike character to impose everything he can control.
How to decipher "Rose Bud" has become a key interpretation in "Citizen Kane". Everyone is looking for its answer, but the answer is simply impossible to find.
