A good look and feel is important, but sometimes, you need a boost.

"Holy Mountain", how to say, curious, weird, uncomfortable, obscure but with philosophy behind it, a movie that I don't regret but would not recommend. The main line of the film is the bizarre sightings experienced by a group of people on the way to find the holy mountain. The director magnifies and ugliness various illusions of human society and presents them on the screen through his own whimsy. Religion, war, sex, business, art, money... When you worship everything that is psychedelic, you are put on an ugly veil, as if you were awakened from a dream, and you can see the truth again. Good looks are important, but they are hallucinogenic drugs, and sometimes, you need a booster.

This is the first time I watched a movie seriously and saw I fell asleep, and I have never encountered such a thing when watching a legendary big boring movie, which is a bit strange. I watched this with the expectation of a high-scoring fantasy master. After watching it, I feel that there is no room for white space in the film, and the elements are too full. Gorgeous pictures, sensory stimulation, and image metaphors are jam-packed, and they have already surpassed the theme expression. It may be an extremely satisfying viewing experience for some people. But for my personal taste, the technology and language of a film serve the point of view or story/content to be output. A film that is too greedy and too full of forms will blur the focus and weaken the expression.

We are living in hell right now, dying all the time, living all the time, experiencing the most fearful things and wrestling with anticipation all the time, experiencing both The thing you are most afraid of, and the thing you are afraid of is afraid of. And the more microscopic world is also composed of death that is varied and repeated in an instant, a mirror kaleidoscope that repeats one after another. There is no good or evil in the world, I and you, health and disease, desire and pain, appearance and heart, maverick and kitsch, beauty and ugliness, death and survival. All the subtlest and grandest things consist of death pains, despair, fear and loneliness, and of course material, physical, mental and spiritual pleasures. But such "happiness", like death, has no good taste. The master is right, we cannot live forever, because we are dying all the time, and there is no escape from death at any time.

The Alchemist: He has beautiful feet.

Lut, He whose planet is Pluto: I can't stand the smell!

  • The Alchemist: [final lines] We began in a fairytale and we came to life, but is this life reality? No. It is a film. Zoom back camera.

[camera zooms out, revealing equipment and crew]

The Alchemist: We are images, dreams, photographs. We must not stay here. Prisoners! We shall break the illusion. This is Maya! Goodbye to the Holy Mountain. Real life awaits us.
