Just arrived in the United States for a year and went through the presidential election last year. After Trump was elected, New York elites were in an uproar. Before each class, the first topic teachers bring up is the presidential election, expressing their disappointment and worries about the future. Because of Trump's travel ban, there were several marches in New York, and then there were women's marches, and there were protest marches against the dean of academic affairs in schools. For Chinese students who have just come from a "peaceful" celestial dynasty to a "crisis" American imperialist, participating in the parade is really a new thing, like watching the fun, and seeing why they are living a good life, but, To care about some public affairs that are "irrelevant" to you. In the Celestial Dynasty, this kind of liveliness is rare. Take, for example, a recent march to protest the proposal of the Dean of Academic Affairs to merge six liberal arts departments on the grounds of fiscal deficits. The students and teachers held pots and pans, knocked and blocked the Office of the Dean of Education and the Administration Building, shouting to them, "We want education, not adminstration!" It is possible to protest vigorously, which is definitely not going to happen in the Chinese Dynasty: first, who knows where the offices of the principal and the dean of academic affairs are hidden? Student protests must have been directly implemented long ago, you just need to obey. And so on, what kind of factory is going to be built in which village, which piece of land is going to be acquired, whose house is going to be demolished, etc. How can the little people have any right to know, they just need to obey. Because a certain TV told us that we must consider the overall situation of socialist economic development, and capitalist countries still have "one person, one vote". Voting is more labor-intensive and inefficient.
Every time I take the New York subway or the Long Island train, I always feel that the democracy of the American people is really a mistake. If it were in the Chinese Dynasty, this subway and this train would not have been rebuilt by the government's order, so there is no need to listen to the opinions of taxpayers. The first half of this film will also give us a little comfort to those who live in socialism: it seems that democracy is not good in the United States, because didn't the female congressman say "in Congress the people's words don't count. It can be seen that the democratic system is unreliable at the critical moment, and it has also become an autocracy, and it is still the secret operation of a few people that determines the fate of the majority.
However, the more I watched, the more excited I became, when I saw President Roosevelt sending the National Guard to protect the striking workers who were confronting the local police, especially when Roosevelt read the Second Bill of Rights aloud in front of the TV. Although democracy is not perfect in the United States, at least this fake democracy can make ordinary people live a little more comfortable. Even though unfairness and injustice exist everywhere, people under the democratic system at least have the opportunity and right to resist, and at least they can fight for something for themselves. They marched and protested in solidarity, dared to take the initiative to confront the police and financial groups, and defend their natural rights. Regardless of success or failure, at least one of the most basic rights of being a human being is retained. In contrast, the people under the social and communist system can only suffer silent oppression in ignorance, and their lives are like a must. When the villagers of Cancer Village knelt down collectively to the visiting reporters, begging the reporters to do good deeds and help them, it is not hard to imagine how powerless and helpless the farmers are in the face of the powerful guanxi-business collusion forces! And the workers living in "all evil" capitalist democracies are shouting loud slogans: "The people united, we are never going to be defeated!" How can this not make one's eyes watery? ! Whether it works or not, how inspiring it is to shout it out! We have been shouting the slogan, "The name of the people" is so hot! It is a pity that this slogan was not chanted by the people themselves. Shouting it has become a propaganda, let us really think that they are fighting corrupt officials in our name and seeking happiness for the people. If the attitude towards disadvantaged groups is considered a country's level of civilization, I really don't know why we are so embarrassed to use our country as an ancient civilization with a history of 5,000 years. When the word "pessimism" is uttered by more and more humanistic intellectuals, I, a born pessimist, can no longer be optimistic. I can only read it here and then pray to God for a miracle to happen: May The divine light will penetrate the darkness as soon as possible and illuminate the noisy land of China, even if this kind of democracy is inferior.
