In order to explore human nature, telling the story of a professional criminal and a master escaper is obviously not the right way to go; but that's what director David Lowe does in a lighthearted new film, The Old Man and the Gun . The story is very good, the performance is good, and the " hit movie " genre successfully evokes the performance of legendary movie star Robert Redford, one of the most passionate performances of his career.

Rayford stars in Forrest Tucker, a brilliant bank robber. Its humble, low-key nature and inner politeness seem to help him avoid suspicion when he commits a crime. Forrest, always in a suit and sometimes a hat, is a slow and gentle wanderer. He sometimes works alone, sometimes with "Year of the Year" (named because Forrest and his colleagues are very old) to create a series of elaborate bank robberies.
Aside from some flashbacks, the film is largely drawn from two parallel storylines--. One is a warm "sunset red" romance after Forrest meets the lovely retired woman Jewel (Cissy Sposeke); the other is a reciprocating, slow-paced game of cat and mouse: Detective John Hunter (Cassie Affleck) trying to crack some related heists and hoping to bring Forrest to justice.

The trailer for Lovi shows a slow narrative rhythm, especially last year's seemingly listless Ghosts , which is inconsistent with his age (although only 37 years old, Lovi has mentored five ministers). From a technical standpoint, Lowe sticks to classic visual storytelling techniques, putting a lot of slow motion together, separating, slowing and fading, and swinging reasonably throughout the film. He and photographer Joe Anderson shot glass or windshields multiple times to emphasize the film's mirror image, a dual identity theme. -- Forrest is also a smooth gentleman in illegal activities: you'll want him to be your neighbor.
In the same way, the film firmly brings the "anti-community" to the end. In The Old Man and the Gun, there are no shootout scenes; when there is an action accident, we only see the result, not the process. - Several members of the Forrest Group were stitching up wounds after the robbery. In the film's penultimate crash scene, even if the police do eventually approach Forrest, they just create a sad country music style.

The finely tuned tone of director Lowe's work last year, "Ghostbusters," gives the film a deep sense of immersion. The film may not have much resonance or feel to foreign audiences, but Lowell's work (based on a true story, although some events and characters are modeled on multiple archetypes) gave me a clear look at American cinema. Subgenre - "Dexarkana" Films - Terrence Malik, David Gordon Greene and other filmmakers use its emotionally rich, character-based style, with backgrounds in Texas, Arkansas and the U.S. fringe states. such as Oklahoma and northwestern Louisiana. The films often praised the regions' rich outdoor landscapes, focusing on middle-class characters who struggled in the balance of payments but were never beaten by all kinds of hardships.
Of course, there was a lot of news before The Old Man and the Gun was released, as Radford had said it might be his last job as an actor (the 82-year-old also plans to be a director, and of course he will continue to do so in order to stick to the environment) Conservation campaign, he also works at the Sundance Film Festival he founded. Since making such comments, Redford has said nothing has been fixed, he has no intention of disappearing from the public eye, and has no plans to retire anytime soon. .0x9A8B] The true swan song in his big screen career, then this is definitely a fitting curtain call, as Forrest has so many characters that fit Redford's friendly and lighthearted persona.
Redford reveals the concept of imagery from this angle, and The Old Man and the Gun has a deeper meaning - in the end, Lowe chooses to flash back to Forrest's shoddy past and uses some of Redford's work decades ago. The photo and clip in the middle evokes memories of Steven Soderbergh's The Old Man and the Gun. In that movie, Terence Stump's cinematic canon is very similar to " Under the Linden Tree. "
Despite the warm heartfelt flirtation and pleasantly romantic balance between Forrest and the Gem, The Old Man and the Gun's quality of meditation and sadness and durability cannot be overlooked (in fact, the last time Forrest Tucker was seen Arrested four years later and died in prison at age 83). It's not a period-specific movie; in fact, when you see it, you struggle with the story of which year it took place. Everything is subtle and fits its scale. That's one of the points of this movie. - We are the protagonists of our own stories. There is a beauty in simplicity when you choose how to live and what to pursue. These choices can be fun, but no matter how sooner or later, the consequences will eventually come to an end. Redford breathes life into the character, giving viewers an indirect sense of a free-spirited life.
