When I found out that the plot has not been remembered so clearly, but the dark tone is still fresh in my memory. In addition to matching the theme of the film, this color scheme also renders the desolate Russian flavor very thoroughly with the soundtrack.
The reason why I rewatched the film was because I wanted to use it to compare with Sono Ziwen's "Mediocre Talents" . Although the two films expressed different emphases, they both involved the relationship between parents and children, violence and the cruel living world. However, after repainting, I felt that a separate discussion should be made for this film.
The word "return" is translated from Russian возвращение, and its common meaning is to return home, to return, возвращение домой (to go home) should be included in the top 10 most commonly used Russian words. In short, let’s get down to business, since this film is named after the return, who is the return? It's the father, the man in the film who forced the two sons to do this and that. We just call him father. Father's first return home after 12 years away from home is his first return, and his final ending seems to be his second return. WTF! 12 years! After all, his two stupid sons were only about 10 years old, which means that these two sons should have no memory of their father. So where did this father go for 12 years? unimportant! Where did he come from? unimportant! What does he do? Still not important! All you need to know is that he plans to go fishing on an island with his two estranged sons at the request of his wife when he comes back. In fact, it is still understandable that a father who has not returned home for a long time wants to establish a relationship with his son by car travel, get to know each other on the journey, and make the other person fall in love with him, ahhh, but a fighting steel straight man once The understanding of traveling abroad does not stop there.
All in all, it wasn't as fun as I expected.
This threatening and violent approach made me fear for my son's life at one point, and it was the rhythm of an accident. Sure enough, something happened in the end, but the direction of the accident was a little different from what I expected, so I won't spoil it for now. This film should be classified as a male type of film, because the entire film, except for the mother and grandmother who appeared in the title, is almost all about a man and two boys along the way for the remaining 1 hour. This can be said to be the father and son story of people in embarrassment.
Let's talk about the two sons, the eldest son is called Andre, referred to as Xiao A, and the second son is called Ivan, referred to as Xiao B. Little A and Little B may have been brought up by single mothers since childhood, and they have more kind and gentle qualities than the bravery and violence that men should have. Especially Xiao B, who is completely arrogant and arrogant, eats only water, and fights all by mouth. Little A and Little B have completely opposite attitudes towards the suddenly appearing father. Xiao A showed awe at the first sight of his father, and seemed quite satisfied with his father who looked like an ancient Roman warrior. But Xiao B was not so happy. The first thing he did when he saw his father was to look for old photos to confirm, and after that, he kept resisting and uncooperative to his father.
What I've read is about the indispensability of communication if every good work invisibly conveys to the viewer some deeper meaning beneath the surface. After all, how should father and son communicate to maintain the relationship between father and son? Father and son are not just a parent-child existence, but another threatening man. In the ancient legends of the West, the murder of the father seems to have become a fixed plot that makes people lingering in fear. The father in the film educates his son in the same way as a man, trying to make him grow, while the son, due to his maladaptiveness, remains unacceptably resistant to the pressure imposed by his father. There is no room for a herd in a carnivore world, and this is probably the starting point for all the violence of the father, so he tries to force the two incompetent and slightly weak sons to learn to deal with the harsh reality. But he apparently forgot that there was a 12-year-old wall between him and his son, and the name of that wall was distrust. In fact, in the violence of the father's moment, he always cared for the two cubs, which can be regarded as a kind of cruel love. But relying on acts of violence can't break down that wall, what's it going to come down to? Perhaps, the way children understand the world is still above language. In the film, Xiao A and Xiao B have many scenes of night talk. This time is the time to cultivate the relationship and trust between the two brothers, but the communication between them and their father is 0, and even because of some misunderstandings, their communication has become negative. . They don't know anything about this father, what does he do? Who is he calling? Where is he taking himself? His every move was suspicious in the eyes of his sons. At some point, my sons may even be as grumpy as I am about being able to return to their mothers alive. But my father didn't make any efforts here, just like this, after the slamming sound, my father came back again. As for that wall, did it really disappear with Xiao B's last few eager and sincere fathers?
