The heroine of the film, Ellen, is a college student who loves to draw. She likes to upload her works to a blog, but her artistic future has to be terminated because she suffers from anorexia, and her school courses cannot be continued.
As most people with mental illness will encounter, Allen's family was not happy. Her father devotes himself to work all year round and does not return home several times a year.
Her biological mother was gay and the two separated when she was young. Now she lives with her stepmother and the older sister she brought, and it's always a little embarrassing to have such a family.
Her illness is also very typical. The first thing to do when eating is to count calories. She is only willing to pick and choose some peas, and do sit-ups when she has time to burn calories.

"Bone as a Wood" is sensitive to this distorted behavior, and tries to show its face to exhort and comfort those patients in pain. The starting point is laudable, but the final work is out of order and vague.
It may be that the atmosphere of the story is not too depressing. The film avoids shocking plots and is very gentle on the realization of anorexia.
But in this morbidly skinny society, the inspirational slogans and a little angel boyfriend brought by the film are not enough. What is needed is more tension and intuitive image impact.
"Skinny as a Firewood" may have made a bowl of warm heart-warming chicken soup, but it has never been able to heal those people who can't extricate themselves through the screen...
