Collaboration (this is not a movie review)

This isn't a movie review, it's an afterthought

"2010": This film has won a lot of Oscar nominations that have nothing to do with the plot, such as costume design, art design, etc., because the plot is really not good. Although this film is considered a sequel to "2001: A Space Odyssey", I don't know why it wasn't directed by Kubrick.

The movie lacks the contemplative stuff from A Space Odyssey, and there isn't much to explain about that black stele. Because the filming time of the film was during the Cold War period, the main content is to talk about people should not fight internally, but cooperate to face a bigger crisis.

And this group of astronauts is also composed of the United States and the Soviet Union. When they went to work, the relationship between the two countries was good, and after reaching Jupiter, the two countries went to war on Earth. This caused these astronauts to almost die in space because of what happened on Earth.

The solution is to throw away politics, cooperate peacefully, and face common dangers (external dangers). It is not limited to the United States and the Soviet Union. Human beings must face this issue. It is to the universe that our dangers are greater and more, but why do we still spend energy and resources fighting back and forth in our own homes? ? ?

The reason is that the external threat is not obvious now. While many are convinced there are aliens, few have seen them in person, nor have they felt any apparent threat. But it is foreseeable that this threat is only a matter of time, and it seems that there will be no tears until the coffin is not seen.

The unity of values within the earth is a major trend, and globalization is a major trend. There will be twists and turns in this process (like Trump), but I personally believe that it will not change. The reason is that we will sooner or later be convinced that the contradictions between human beings are internal contradictions , we can talk and negotiate, and the contradiction outside the earth may be the contradiction between the enemy and ourselves.

In fact, it is better to understand than "2001 A Space Odyssey", but the aura is obviously weaker.

A note on 2001 The difference is that the narrative is far bigger than thinking and fantasy. It's an anti-Cold War political film wrapped in sci-fi. Leftovers from 2001 such as HAL's loss of control and Dave's whereabouts and the location of alien intelligence are all explained but justified. It is this explanation that may finally wipe out the depth and rationality of the explanation itself, especially the final explosion of Jupiter into a second sun, which completely turned this film into a vulgar sci-fi but maintained a stable rhythm.

Dr. Chandra: Of course you will. All intelligent beings dream. Nobody knows why. Perhaps you will dream of HAL... just as I often do.
