"Spiritual Detective" has Anthony Hopkins, I'm sure of this movie. However, apart from the old man's acting skills, everything else really disappointed me.
Although it was a film released in 2015, it was obviously imitating David Fincher's masterpiece "The Seven Deadly Sins". The plot was a bit like "Silence of the Lambs": brutal murders happened one after another but connected with each other. The helpless police consulted people with supernatural abilities. The killer threw himself into the net, claiming that killing was for justice.
This is a well-packaged Hollywood popcorn movie. There are no obvious flaws in the plot, but it is not smooth. Whether the police's actions are reasonable or not is another matter. The atmosphere in the first half is not bad, especially the interludes and flashbacks have replaced the complexity. And the abstract channeling process. In the end, a happy ending is expected. After all, it is nothing new for individuals to understand their past after suffering.
Someone analyzed: All this is a dream of the old man played by Hopkins, and the so-called killer played by Clint Farrell is a young old man. In this way, the whole story is very charming.
