If it weren't for the self-defeating carnage scene at the end, I can't really say how emotionally I feel about this movie. I haven't read the old edition in its entirety, but I can assert that the amount of information and deep meaning in this one is several times that of the former. Radiohead's lead singer's unforgettable voice, "unmade", the heroine in black veil tore open her chest, sublimated in the climax, coupled with the blood and blood rain brought by the dark gods visiting the witch event in person, it is... inexplicably moving? My favorite this year will be two things: one is this movie, and the other is Damei.
