The Words

The Words, a novel, or a bunch of words, translated into Chinese as a wonderful brush, has nothing to do with the story. The writers can produce flowers, some are beautiful, some are obscure. The film tells the story of three writers from different periods. Although they span different eras, the three are connected by a novel. The three-dimensional structure, the cross-narrative, and the novel as the main line, implicitly express the dilemma that the three writers entered when faced with a choice.

Rory, an unknown writer, lives in poverty, but insists on writing, but has never achieved anything. I accidentally bought a cowhide bag at a thrift store with a novel in it. After reading it, Rory couldn't help himself, his mind was full of the pictures in the novel. He jumped out of bed in the middle of the night and typed the novel into the computer word for word. Fluency and authenticity. In the morning, his wife found the novel, and his eyes full of admiration made him hurriedly take it to the publishing house. With his wife's repeated encouragement, Rory's moral law was shaken. Sure enough, the novel caused a sensation in the United States, and Rory became a well-known writer on the streets.

One day the old man followed him to Central Park, claiming to be the author of the novel. After expressing his intention, the old man said: I will tell that story. He is the wife he met in the overseas war. He fell in love with writing by chance, and began to hit the printer day and night. Soon their daughter was born, he felt very happy, but there was something missing in life, so he wrote harder, but still couldn't write why, one day his daughter fell ill and died, crushing his wife, the two became indifferent, and the wife stayed After the letter left, he angrily threw the typewriter on the ground. In an instant, a wealth of words appeared in his mind, which was then concatenated into an article, and he wrote it day and night, and then a novel came out two weeks later. He printed out the novel and sent it to his wife. After reading it, she went home moved. Whoever wanted to leave the cowhide bag with the novel on the train, he was furious, blaming his wife for losing the novel, and the wife left in disappointment.

After Rory knew that the author of the untitled article was an old man, he was rebuked in his heart again. He went home and told his wife the truth. After listening to his wife, he accused him of his moral bottom line. Rory shouted angrily: This is what you did, it is I want to give you a good life. The wife left disappointed.

The third story is now that the well-known author Clay is releasing his latest novel, a young woman approached him intentionally, it seems that the first two stories are Clay's novels, but it seems to be his past. Clay has been separated from his wife for years and still wears the ring. The girl asked what happened to Rory afterward?

After learning the truth, Rory found the publisher and asked to change the author's name. After being rejected, he went to the old man to make amends. The old man told him: I won't pursue anything, and you don't have to make amends, just treat it as your work!

There is an original sentence in the film: You take the words, and you take pain. Since you took the novel, you should bear the pain she brought.

The three writers face their own predicaments. The novel itself seems to be a godsend, but it has a curse that affects the old man, Rory, and clay. Introduce three writers into their own swamps of life, and then struggle, blame themselves, and walk on the edge of pain. Because the old man regarded novels as more important than his wife, he entered into a predicament of himself, unable to write anything in his life, and found a small town to live in seclusion until old age. Rory got into a moral dilemma because he cheated on the world, and his wife said: everything is caused by his wife, shirk responsibility, and his wife is sad to leave. Clay, on the other hand, has always been obsessed, and his writing journey is flourishing, but his heart is suffering. All three are paying for their own choices, and it is difficult to buy them all for life.

Clay actually has no regrets, which can be found in the dialogue with the girl. Clay said, I wonder where people go after they make mistakes and don't repent? After learning about the girl's intention, Clay told the story and said something intriguing: fiction and reality are two different things, they can be infinitely close, but they can never overlap! It makes the whole story more complicated and confusing, so that the viewer cannot escape.

After watching the movie, I couldn't calm down for a long time. Can people be forgiven for their mistakes? Can they go back?

The ending is open-ended, personal analysis, Rory is Clay's youth, he buried the novel with the old man after the death of the old man, and continued his life as a walking dead writer. He didn't talk about that story again, for a long time he even thought that what happened was just a novel he wrote. Numbness, no longer attaching importance to the restraint of the moral law, he did prove that people can still live after making mistakes, and they live well, but they can't get peace of mind. The writers seem to be trying their best to pull the writer high and push him to the brink and let him choose. Exploring the weakness of human nature and separating morality in half seems to be intentionally separating two people who love each other in terms of moral law. Although this contradictory exposure is cruel, it is also effective. However, I think the expression of this play is not redemption, because the results have never changed, and the motives are not clearly assigned. In fact, it is a bit single.

The last personal guess is that the young girl in the film should be the granddaughter of the old man's ex-wife!
