It's not easy to make a bad movie seriously

It's not easy to remake a classic old drama, with big stars gathered, serious acting, and careful filming, and then making it into a bad movie.

Black-and-white matchmaking, unrequited love of ghosts, racial discrimination, election battles for community councillors, women are not weak, the shadow of fathers, gang members Jin Chan escaped, white police abused their power to kill black children, widow robbery, etc. I can think of a movie in a trance that makes people continue to play, and then find that it is not related to the main line of the story, and then try to come back, this movie is really weird, it is difficult to understand what the director wants to express, can we concentrate on it? Planning a heist?

The motives for the robbery of several widows are far-fetched, the planning and organization are poor, and the skills and techniques are very weak, and then inexplicably succeeded, it is really speechless.

There is also Liam Neeson, a very chaotic character, who should not die, should not escape, it is really a shame for the boss of the gang.

Why is it so bad, and it has been nominated for several awards?

After thinking about it, I feel that a local tyrant movie fan has realized his dream of being a screenwriter by throwing money at it. He has piled up all the topics he finds interesting in this film, and successfully piled up a bunch of shit.

(6.0/10) is much more complicated than a simplified version of "Eight Arhats", but not in the criminal process but in the social issues behind it, women, race, politics, etc. New changes brought by Quinn. It's just that this case didn't go smoothly at all.

This script is really rotten into a headless fly. Don't know what to do and what to do. There's just too many scraps that don't help the story move forward, not to mention character motivation and believability. It feels like Steve McQueen has disappeared after filming "Shame". Even if it won the best picture Oscar for "12 Years a Slave", it would not help.

Widows quotes

  • Jack Mulligan: Have you ever slept with a black guy?

    Siobhan: Sorry?

Jack Mulligan: You heard me, have you ever slept with a black guy?

Siobhan: What does that have to do with Jamal? Or anyth...

Jack Mulligan: Just answer the fucking question.

Siobhan: We're in a situation where you could lose everything. You've got the IGs and the feds breathing down your neck, you got Jamal Manning climbing in the polls and all you're concerned about is if your dick is bigger than his?

Jack Mulligan: Well what are we fighting for? This? I mean do you know how many shootings happened in this city last weekend alone? Thirty four! These people are killing each other! This is not where I want to raise my children. What are we fighting for, exactly! I feel suffocated. I'm a Mulligan, I'm my mother's son, God rest her soul. The shit she had to put up with from my father!

Siobhan: I'm putting up with it too, Jack. That's what adults do.

Jack Mulligan: I never wanted to be in this fucking business. That what this is. It's a fucking business! Christ, I just wanna be free of this shit. Can't take it anymore.

Siobhan: Wake the fuck up, Jack. You are not going to pussy out now. What are you going to do, work in a bank? Take the train downtown, punch a clock? This is your life. This is our life, it's what we do. Everyone has a fucking sob story, most of them better than yours, so if the idea is to be mayor one day, you better man the fuck up!

Jack Mulligan: Jesus... Dollar signs of empty promises. Everyone who thinks different are fooling themselves. That's the God's honest truth.

  • Harry Rawlings: Why couldn't you just sell the book to Jamal and leave it at that? Ronnie, you're not supposed to be here.

Veronica: You left me alone, you evil bastard. You wanted to start a new life with your son and your new white happy family.

Harry Rawlings: I couldn't save him, Ronnie! I couldn't save us! I had to save me! Me!

    Veronica: You're a fucking coward!
