Feelings After Watching Serendipity

Last Saturday, we watched a seemingly romantic movie called Serendipity. Sara and John met at a shop because they wanted to buy the same black gloves . They spent a really happy night. When being separated from each other, Sara wrote her name and telephone number on a paper, but it blew away. John thought it a accident, while Sara regarded it as destiny. So Sara spent the money where John wrote his name and telephone number and sold the book where wrote hers. She kept in deep belief that if they were meant to meet, they would meet. After seven years, they were respectively going to get married but they still couldn't forget each other. If destiny permitting, they hoped to find each other. Obstacles as they went through, they met on a snowy night just as seven years ago.

It looks like a moving love story that they live happily together ever after. Apparently, when Sara got his money and John found her book, it may be what the director wants to express—they are bound to see each other, which he calls "Serendipity".

However, try as I can, I still don't understand the destiny. It was destiny when they first met, wasn't? I can feel that they fell in love with each other at first sight, but why did Sara have to hold on what she called fate. How stupid! Of course, as a movie, if they had exchanged their names and phone numbers as soon as they met, there wasn't such a story anymore.

Therefore, in our daily life, if we meet our Mr.Right, do not hesitate to ask for "names and phone numbers". Because I believe our destiny is in our own hands.

Serendipity quotes

  • Dean: I hate to break up a good thing, but we have half a dozen strippers waiting for us, we're late.

    Halley: You mean exotic dancers?

Dean: No, I actually mean strippers.

  • Jonathan: This is the ultimate blend to drink. How'd you find this place?

Sara: I first came in because of the name: Serendipity. It's one of my favorite words.

    Jonathan: It is? Why?

Sara: It's such a nice sounding word for what it means: a fortunate accident.
