I watched this movie half a year ago, and my first impression after watching it was that this black man did not give in to fate and lived out himself.
In the United States, racism is prevalent. Especially in the military, it is even more discriminatory against black people, but our protagonist Carl has a dream of becoming a member of the US Navy. He went, and reality gave him a heavy blow on the road to realize his dream: black people can only Be a crewman on a boat. The treatment he received in it can be imagined, and he has a spirit of resistance, and unexpectedly showed his swimming skills, which was appreciated by the officers. This is his first step. Just a step forward.
There are many difficulties in the back. I can't remember how many difficulties he went through. The white people's blows, deliberately embarrassing, almost no one understands, but Carl carried it all. He has only one belief: he wants to realize his dream. Therefore, he constantly strives for opportunities, and here we can also see that if we want to do anything, it is entirely up to us, and opportunities are obtained through ourselves.
All I remember is that Carl ended up being a naval officer, a household name. However, during a mission, one of his lower legs was severed alive. In about half a year, he even put on a prosthetic limb, and through training, he returned to the state of an ordinary person. He wanted to go back to the Navy and continue his mission. In the end, wearing a diving suit weighing more than 200 kilograms, he took 12 steps step by step, risking the risk of breaking his prosthesis. With every step, sweat particles of the size of beans slid down his face. A word that struck Carl's heart and my heart, and when Carl took 12 steps down, I burst into tears.
Carl is a real man. He was born black. No one was willing to help him at first. Through continuous efforts, he won the respect of more and more people. I think of Carl's father again here. A farmer who farms for others, Carl initially brought his father's photo and his father's radio to the army, which shows the position of his father in Carl's heart. In that photo, my father was very strong and stoic. I think Carl took his father as his role model.
At first, the seed of a dream was planted, and in the process of chasing the dream, he constantly struggled and struggled with fate until the dream came true, and until the last moment, it was this process that made Carl successful. He is enviable, he has a dream, and he has given all to fight for it, he is more respectable, because he told me: Strangle the throat of fate, instead of bowing to it!
