But why is it called "Comet Beauty"?

It's one of my favorite movies I've seen recently.

The story is well told, and the way of telling the story is also very good. Although the plot is inevitably old-fashioned, it seems that it has been abused by the current palace fighting dramas and workplace dramas, but they are movies from the 1950s, and they can be called the originator of the scheming bitch. Come on!

That's not the reason I like it, it's that I really like the pair of Margaux and Bill, and then Margaux's every move, every word and deed in life feels very realistic, especially the words that he said to Helen in the car. It's meaningful! As a woman, actor, age is really the biggest enemy! It happened that she also had a sister-in-law relationship, how could she not be hysterical, how could she not make trouble unreasonably. So I think the character design and performance are very good. And Bill really is a good man. From the birthday party, I felt a bit obsessed, and then the audition was considered the climax of the conflict between the two. Bill couldn't bear it anymore and said byebye to Margot, but the real good show is when the scheming bitch finally shows his true colors. To seduce him, he completely held it, but returned to Margaux instead. At first I also wondered if he decided to marry Margo in order to resist the temptation of a scheming bitch, but after careful analysis, I thought it was because of true love. Hahaha. So I especially like them both. In comparison, Roy seemed a little unclear.

Of course, this film tells us that scheming bitches want to be in the top position, it is not enough to rely on scheming alone, and it is necessary to have strength.

Finally, Monroe is simply amazing in it, yes, it's beauty, not acting.

All About Eve quotes

  • Lloyd Richards: Karen, let me tell you about Eve. She's got everything - a born actress. Sensitive, understanding, young, exciting, vibrant...

Karen: Don't run out of adjectives, dear.

  • Karen: [narrating] Newton, they say, thought of gravity by getting hit on the head by an apple. And the man who invented the steam-engine, he was watching a teakettle. But not me. My big idea came to me just sitting on a couch. That boot in the rear to Margo. Heaven knows, she had one coming. From me, from Lloyd, from Eve, Bill, Max and so on. We'd all felt those size fives of hers often enough. But how? The answer was buzzing around me like a fly. I had it. But I let it go. Screaming and calling names is one thing, but this could mean...

Karen: [continues] Why not? "Why," I said to myself, "not?" It would all seem perfectly legitimate. And only two people in the world would know. Also, the boot would land where it would do the most good for all concerned. After all, it was no more than a harmless joke which Margo herself would be the first to enjoy. And no reason why she shouldn't be told about it... in time.

Karen: [on the phone, calling Eve to let her in on her little "joke"] Hello. Will you please call Miss Eve Harrington to the phone?
