Whitewashing Taiping

I haven't seen the first version of the movie, so there's no nostalgia for it, as a horror movie, it does have a thrilling part to me, but, the thing that strikes me the most about this movie is that it's not On the homicide aspect, it's the self-deception of ordinary people in the face of unusual events.

Why do you say this way? As an audience, from the very beginning of the movie, my grandmother's obsession with past murders, to Mike's massacre when he fled, and then a series of murders.

Modern society is different from the past. Our technology has made communication extremely developed, but in this film, what did the police do when they learned about it? Let the incident be downplayed on the TV news, reporting that the car that transported the prisoner had an accident? And then, how did that sheriff respond to all this?

"Am I telling them to stop Halloween?"

In the face of a serial killer who kills like a gangster, when he is on the run, don't you even send a reasonable wanted report or warning? Not to mention, the whole unsuspecting town, you just let a murderer wander around the streets in such a festival suitable for disguise?

Couldn't be more ridiculous!

Some would say that warning the public directly could cause panic.

At this point, I have to ask, shouldn't they panic? You see, the streets are full of children, wandering around. The front door of the residents seems to be closed, but what about the back door and the courtyard? Wasn't it even more unwarranted because of Halloween? It has to be like the movie, after one murder after another, before warning people to go home and close your door!

If it wasn't for Mike chasing his grandmother like a hunter, he could spend the whole Halloween night, after he had a good time, the police would find the victims one after another. With the loose police force in the movie and the environment where he could escape everywhere, This killing feast on Halloween night will not be interrupted at all.

Back to the topic, whitewashing Taiping, if the sheriff's attitude is whitewashing Taiping. Well, those police officers guarding the front line, the police car guarding the road from my grandmother's house. what are they doing? Leisurely talking about what to eat tonight, when the old Hawkins police car stopped in front of them strangely.

They didn't have obvious vigilance, just shouted repeatedly on the walkie-talkie. At that time, I just wanted to shake their heads. Did you get water in your head? When you know the murderous prisoner is on the run, the police car stops in that weird way, the call doesn't work one time, and the second time it doesn't work, you don't have a reasonable suspicion that your colleague is dead and ready to go Are you ready to catch criminals?

Oh, they are not unprepared, you see, aren't they walking towards the police car with the wooden warehouse? In fact, if it wasn't for Mike's hacking, a police officer who was vigilant enough to catch the culprit immediately in this scene would at least not grab a lunch at this place, right?

When it came to the husband, he went straight out the door, walked out of the house that could protect him, and walked to the police car like that. At that moment, I could feel his arrogance from the bottom of my heart. As an adult male, even if I know that there are serial killers out there who are chasing my family, I still have enough confidence to solve anything.

At this time, you might say, because he saw the police car coming in. First of all, the police car is not necessarily driven by the police, and secondly, even if it is a real policeman, what is the possibility that the car will stay in the car and not come out after driving over? Are all kinds of doubts enough to arouse his vigilance?

What did he do even after he found the body in the car? Amazed, backed up, a complete sheep, obediently staying put and waiting to be slaughtered. We are human and our intelligence should be above all animals. Likewise in the face of killing, the wild animal's response, if not attack, is to flee.

And we humans have invented a new way, that is, the so-called people's mind will go blank when they are extremely surprised. Of course, this situation is also found in domestic animals, such as sheep, pigs, cattle and other livestock.

I don't think it's their nature, like antelopes and wild boars, don't face hunting like this. But animals that have been domesticated by humans have lost those instincts to escape, just like humans themselves. I think that, in this regard, we sometimes pursue the so-called civilized society too much, and do not have enough escape instinct.

In fact, from the movies, we have seen too many examples of such whitewashing of peace, whether it is what the daughter said to her grandmother that there is now a society full of love and hope, or those reporters who pursue the psychological activities of prisoners.

Don't they know that in the real world, there are different murders happening all the time? Don't they know that there are all kinds of vicious incidents in the society? They know, even if they don't know enough details, they will hear a little.

But even if they knew the prisoner was so close, they were never vigilant and fearful. Why?

Because they live in daily life, ordinary life, it means that in your life, events such as murder and vicious wounding rarely occur. So you will subconsciously say to yourself, as long as you abide by the law, those are just news events and have nothing to do with me.

This is the self-deception of human beings. In order to maintain their daily life, those normal people's days, as long as things are not at their worst, they will always comfort themselves. After a while, or after a while, the crisis will pass. Anyway, I don't It's nothing to do with me.

Therefore, when bullying on campus, it is a small number of people who really take the initiative to cause trouble, and most of them are bystanders.

Therefore, whether it is a school or a company, we do not accept people who are different from others, we can only accept normal people. If you qualify, it means you have to take more risks. We are not willing to take risks because of your abnormality, so we must exclude others.

Therefore, whitewashing peace is actually a combination of self-deception and xenophobia.

It's not that we are completely unaware of the possibility of danger, but in order to maintain our routine, we need to eliminate those things that might put us in a dangerous situation while we whitewash the peace (self-deception).

This, in this film, I think one of the biggest ugliness in human nature.

Mike doesn't count, he's just a murderer. I don't think it's necessary to be too particular about his psychology, because that person is no longer a human being, so why is there any need to be so particular about it? Even if it is researched, how does his psychology change, and what effect does it have?

For parents who do not know how to properly educate their children, no matter how careful you are, they will not be able to change themselves because of this. So, at the end of the study, I got some written information and piled it up with human lives. Among the hundreds of millions of human beings, there will be no second Mike's mental journey?

What's the point, what's the use?

Do not hesitate to give praise. Although it is a traditional jump scare drama, this time it is not disgusting. David Gordon Green can be considered a crossover once, not at all. [B-]
