American Spirit American Dream

There is no need to say more about the plot. You can roughly guess the content of this theme by reading the introduction, not to mention it is adapted from real people. The American theme film in 1989 is still fascinating to watch. To some extent, it tells the origin of the American spirit. Those black people who have been slaves for generations have realized their glorious American dream in the war.

Just wanted to rant about the age-old problem of racism. If it is said that people of color have always been prejudiced against people of color in the past because of ignorance, narrow-mindedness and low education, racial discrimination is still a shadow that is difficult to dispel around the world today, which is really hard to understand.

The reputation of black people has not been very good. Many people say that black people are lazy. I have indeed seen many black people who steal and rob in Europe, but this does not mean that all black people have bad qualities. Many of the first Chinese who went abroad were not enough to eat and clothe in the country, and they smuggled out to escape. They did not receive much education and went out to do dirty work that the locals were unwilling to do, and even sneaked and robbed to make a living. Cheating, leaving a bad impression on the locals, has become the reason why a large number of foreigners discriminate against yellow skin. Are all Chinese like that?

Although the status of people is divided into high and low, but there is no distinction between high and low personality.

The true story of the Civil War, the letters of Colonel Robert Gould Shaw, a white military officer, are still preserved at Harvard University. The black corps assembled for freedom, brave and unafraid to sacrifice for dignity and glory. And the white colonel who led them, took the lead and had great charisma. The ending is real, tragic, tragic, and moving. Intoxicating black music and vocals, Denzel Washington was a rising star that year

America's first black regiment. During the Civil War, Colonel Shaw (who turned out to be just a lieutenant) was tasked with forming the first black regiment. Discrimination against blacks is still ubiquitous in the whole society, but Xiao understands and respects them in the process, and cultivates them into a cohesive and fighting force. In the film, Colonel Xiao's demeanor is elegant, which more realistically reflects the era of the Gentlemen's War, and at the same time does not vilify the South.

Glory quotes

  • [watching Searles practice with his bayonet]

Sgt. Mulcahy: Oh, what do we have here? Bonnie Prince Charley and his toy bayonet! You're not reading your books now. Stab me.

    Cpl. Thomas Searles: What?

    Sgt. Mulcahy: Stab-me.

[Searles comes at him gingerly and Mulcahy slaps it away]

Sgt. Mulcahy: I said STAB, not TICKLE! Come on, you prissy little schoolgirl! You're the worst soldier in this whole company, now HIT ME!

[Searles comes at him again, Mulcahy disarms him and slams the rifle butt into his stomach, then his face. Searles falls to the ground, writing in pain and sobbing]

Sgt. Mulcahy: No shame, son, get up... I SAID GET UP!

Trip: Nigger forgot to duck, that's all!

Colonel Robert G. Shaw: Sergeant, deal with that man!

  • Colonel Robert G. Shaw: [writing to his mother, telling her that he's seen his first negroes amongst those fleeing the south] We fight for men and women whose poetry is not yet written but which will presently be as enviable and as renowned as any.
