Silicon Valley Startup Stories

I downloaded a few seasons of Silicon Valley because I wanted to know the story of starting a business in Silicon Valley.

First of all, because the jokes are not very appropriate, and the screenwriters have serious discrimination against Chinese people, I plan to give up the show after watching the second season. Let's continue watching it later when I'm bored.

Since it is for the purpose of starting a business, let’s summarize what we have learned! However, I feel that it can only play a role in watching the flowers. To truly master these abilities, you still have to go through the road of entrepreneurship by yourself.

1. The Silicon Valley entrepreneurial model is mainly based on IT. After the technical talents write the algorithm, they participate in some competitions. The performance in the competition is outstanding, and investment companies will come to the door. There will probably be a choice: sell the algorithm for a sum of money, or invest in it and start the company.

The first option is not bad, and can sometimes get you a lot of money. One of my classmates in Singapore worked on smart home algorithms. He participated in a domestic entrepreneurial competition and won the first place. He sold the algorithm and business plan together for 300,000. This kind of thing is really enviable for poor students like us.

Most of the people who choose the second option have a little fighting spirit and want to start a business and try to see what level they can achieve. Of course, it also depends on the value of what you are holding. Richard's pipe piper in the play is an algorithm with great potential, so he chose to start his own business. However, it has gone through various difficulties and obstacles.

2. Competition & plagiarism, how to compete with large companies? The big company hoodi in the play quickly cracked Richard's algorithm by reverse cracking the compressed package and made similar nuclues. In the second season, another company plagiarized the core of the algorithm that Richards personally explained to them in the process of pulling venture capital.

These processes are really all kinds of difficulties and obstacles for Richard who can only write code. Although Jared, who knows management well, and Ellie, the female secretary, helped along the way, Richard fell into various pits and was bitten by hoodi and got into a lawsuit. Board members ousted Richard as CEO. Seems like this is still a common thing? !

I think in this process, it is really important to meet people like Jared and the female secretary who understand these routines to remind and help. So sinister.
