Johnny's room. Peat burns in the fireplace. Johnny sat on the bed with an old suitcase on his lap with a map on it. Morpheus, Pat, and Nolan walked around the house smoking cigarettes. Anise was standing a little behind Johnny by the window, listening intently to their conversation.

Dennis entered the house and closed the door,

Dennis nodded to everyone: "How is it, Johnny?"

Johnny: "Very good. The order has not changed, we can move." He flattened the map and looked at his watch: "Don't worry, we still have time for a cup of tea."

Anise went to the door, watching the people talk.

Johnny to Pat: "Is the car ready?"

Pat: "Ready. I'll drive to this place first." He pointed to the map.

Nolan: "I'm on the bridge..."

Johnny's pencil pointed to another spot on the map.

Morpheus: "I'm waiting in the car market."

Anise went out.

Grandma: "It's all arranged?"

Anise said briskly, "It's all right, grandma. They're going."

Grandma: "Uh, I heard that."

Anise smiled at her. "You heard it all, didn't you?"

Anise put the milk jug, sugar bowl and teaspoon in the tray.

Grandma nodded: "Is he back, my child?" She looked at Annis sympathetically: "I watched you grow up, and I know what you think about the child upstairs."

Anise said sadly, "Perhaps, you also know his thoughts."

There was a knock on the door. Grandma stopped talking and went to open the door. Catherine came in, and she followed Anise with the tray up the stairs.

Johnny's room. Catherine entered with Anise and handed the tea to the people surrounding Johnny.

Johnny stood up and took three purses from the cupboard, handed them to Murphy and Nolan, and kept one for himself.

Kathleen: "Okay, then I'll go, Johnny! I'm waiting for you at the promised place, with a baby carriage. Nothing changed, right?"

Johnny: "No. Catherine."

Catherine looked around the room: "Good luck to you all!"

Johnny: "Good luck, Catherine."

Mo Fei looked at his watch: "Uh, then we should go too..."

Dennis: "I'm here waiting for you to come back."

Johnny: "Okay, bye."

Pat took a revolver out of his pocket, put it in the holster under his arm, and went out with the men. Only Anise, Dennis, and Johnny were left in the house.

Dennis stared at Johnny intently: "Look, you escaped from prison, and you've been hiding in this house for six months, plus eight months in prison for more than a year. You haven't been on the street for a long time. , is not suitable for such a task, let me go."

Anise: "Let him go, Johnny!"

Johnny: "You don't trust me?"

Dennis: "Everyone trusts you completely, but..."

Johnny said sharply: "I'm the leader. To get the money, I'm going to carry out this operation to the end." After a short pause, he said to Dennis, "Wait for me downstairs."

Dennis looked at Anise: "Okay."

Dennis leaves. Johnny closed the door and started changing into his outing shoes.

Anise stared at him: "Johnny, you haven't told me, are you still here in the future?"

Johnny tied his shoelaces without raising his head: "I have to come back, and I won't go up the mountain until the limelight passes."

Anise stared at him: "Can I see you?"

Johnny indulged in fantasy: "Why not?"

Anise looked forward to his attention. She handed him the other shoe: "Johnny, will you be free then?"

Johnny smiled: "Free? Maybe."

He put on his shoes and stood up, looking at Anise, who looked very melancholy.

Johnny: "Okay! I'm leaving."

Anise: "I'm waiting for you, Johnny. I'll be right here waiting for you." She smiled.

At this time, two people shouted and chased out with pistols, and swooped at Johnny. As soon as Johnny dodged, one fell down the steps and passed out. The other big guy held him down, and the two twisted each other into a ball and rolled down the steps. Mo Fei and Nolan were very anxious, but they were afraid of hurting Johnny and didn't dare to rob them, so they had to watch the two continue to fight.

After a while, two gunshots suddenly rang out, and Johnny pushed the limp big man away and struggled to get up.

Pat: "Get in the car, hurry!"

Johnny's left arm was injured and his face was pale.

Mofei and Nolan stepped forward and drove him to the car quickly.

But Johnny gasped in pain and pulled back, eventually being dragged onto the pedals of the car. He stood up staggeringly.

Pat pulled into his gear, and the car sped along the bumpy road, passing houses on both sides; at the intersection blocked by the coal truck, the car jerked dangerously and went around the narrow sidewalk. .

Pat: "Pull him in and close the door!"

Nolan: "Drive slower! Drive slower!"

But when the car was driving into the corner of the road, the body slanted, and the door that had not closed in time bounced back violently, hitting Johnny. He was thrown out immediately and fell in the middle of the road.

Moffey grabbed Pat by the shoulders and screamed, "Ah! He fell! Stop!"

Pat stopped the car: "Quick! Otherwise we will all be screwed!" Seeing Johnny lying in the middle of the road, he was very annoyed: "Go and pull him up!"

Mo Fei: "Reverse the car, will you? Reverse it!"

Nolan: "Yes, pour it quickly! Pour it!"

Then Johnny slowly staggered to his feet, staggered, and stopped for a while, then staggered a few steps into a side street.

Pat: "Let's go pick him up."

Nolan: "He will definitely be waiting for us at the intersection in front of you, just watch."

Morpheus: "Damn it!"

Pat put into gear and the car drove away again.

The car drove a long way.

Pat: "This is the corner. See if Johnny's on the corner?"

Nolan peeped around the empty corner: "No, he wasn't there. Did he take a shortcut back to Anise's house?"

Pat started the car again: "It's just that you're sitting there motionless!"

Nolan: "You just turn the car upside down, Pat!"

Pat angrily said, "What the hell!"

Pat: "...I was about to reverse the car when Johnny got up again and walked across the corner."

There were two knocks on the door, and Morphey and Nolan entered.

Dennis looked at them and asked, "Why did you leave Johnny?"

Morpheus: "We didn't have time to get out of the car, he got up and walked across the corner, that's how it is!"

Dennis: "Enough! Good job you guys did."

Catherine opened the door and came in, throwing two purses on the table.

Catherine looked inside the house and was very surprised: "Where's Johnny? Did the three of you leave Johnny and come back by yourself?"

Mo Fei: "How could we do such a thing? He was thrown out of the car after being injured!"

Catherine: "You only care about your own life and death!"

Pat: "We did our best. Anise, get some tea."

Catherine: "Hmph, do you still want to drink tea? I think it's better to drink poison..."

Annie's kitchen. Dennis is still listening to Nolan, Morphey, and Pat as they tell what happened. Anise leaned against the wall with a sullen expression. Catherine put the wallet with the money in a basket and covered it with a scarf.

Dennis: "Okay! The three of you are going to be court-martialed, and you didn't carry out the order."

Nolan pointed to the purse: "Who said we didn't execute the order?"

Dennis: Think about it for yourself, I don't want to say more. Anise, do you have any bandages? "

Anise stared blankly at everyone without saying a word.

Pat: "What's the bandage for?"

Dennis: "I'm going out to Johnny, bandaged, and they're going to hunt me down as him."

There was a knock on the door, and as an evening paper came in, Anise took it and handed it to Dennis.

Dennis reads the paper: "A factory robbery at gunpoint...A cashier killed in a fight. The perpetrator is on the run with injuries."

Catherine choked: "Poor Johnny!" She crossed her chest. "Virgin Mary, bless him!"

Catherine left with the basket.

Dennis: "Listen! Pat, Morphey, and you! Nolan! Go to headquarters right now."

Pat: "Go to court martial?"

Dennis: "Go to the headquarters to report the situation and then say that the order has been issued to you, and tell them about my whereabouts, so that they can take action."

As they walked towards the door, Pat returned suddenly.

Pat: "I'll go with you!"

Dennis: "You're as nervous as a piglet led to the market! You'd better go to the headquarters!"

Pat shrugged and walked away. Dennis sat at the table and began wrapping the bandage around his left arm. Anise watched uneasily for a while, then stepped forward to help.

Anise: "Can this fool them, Dennis?"

Dennis: "The police would go after a guy with a wound in the arm, and I got them, and Johnny got out."

Anise: "Are you going alone?"

Dennis: "All alone."

Anise bandaged him, silent.

Anise: "Dennis! I'll go with you!"

Dennis: "You asked to go just for yourself."

Anise: "Johnny's going to be in the hands of the police now, sooner or later." After a short pause he would say, "Leave him to me before he gets arrested."

Dennis shook his head: "As long as he lives, he belongs to the organization."

Anise: "Always organize, organize!"

Dennis: "That's it. You must never leave this house tonight."

Dennis walked out the door.

Morphey: "I don't want to be Dennis tonight."

Pat: "I'd really like to go with him."

Nolan: "Shh! Listen! The police..."

Someone in the dark ordered them to stop. They glanced around hastily. Pulling out his pistol, he hurried away in the opposite direction from where the shouting came, but immediately stuck to the wall again in fright.

The sound of a police car coming from the other side of the street was getting closer.

Nolan: "God bless!"

Pat: "Shut up! Quiet!"

The police car drove away.

Pat: "Come with me!"

Street. Pat, Murphy, and Nolan ran carefully out of the house, crossed the street quickly, and stopped in the corner with a faded advertisement.

Nolan: "Pat, where are you going to take us?"

Pat: "Go to Tereza's!"

Nolan: "What?"

Morpheus: "Is that okay? It's forbidden to go to her place!"

Pat: "What can I do? There are cops everywhere."

Mo Fei said nervously, "Then let's go!"

three two

Outside Tereza's house. The three climbed the front steps of the house and stood in a dark porch.

Pat knocked the door twice. Nolan looked back at the steps.

Nolan: "Steps! It's the same as that factory."

Pat: "Shut up! Forget about that."

Morpheus: "Let's go to the headquarters."

There was a small crack in the door, and Tereza looked out, then opened it, with an air of attentiveness. Pat, Morphey and Nolan enter the house.

Moffey whispered to Pat, "I have to go," and then to Tereza, "I'm going to my mother, Tereza."

Mo Fei left suddenly. Trisara locked the door.

Tereza: "Then you play a little longer, and give me the coat." When she took the coat, she found the pistol, "Brother, you'd better keep it handy so that you don't feel at ease."

After returning their coats, she led them back into a spacious living room. Tereza poured whiskey into three glasses and handed it to the two men on a silver tray.

Tereza: "Here! Drink it. A drink is the best thing to do!"

After the two men took it with trembling hands, she raised the cup: "I wish you health, bless you!"

Pat and Nolan exchange meaningful glances.

Tereza smiled. "It's all in the papers! I'm so proud of you, my dears! Cheers to your health!"

Inside the bomb shelter. Johnny struggled to his feet, groping along the wall in the darkness toward the hole. He heard voices talking and stopped abruptly.

A woman reluctantly followed behind a man.

Lin: "Mei, it's great here."

Mei: "No...I..."

Lin: "What's the matter?"

Mei: "I don't want to..."

Lin: "But you said you would!"

May: "But I changed my mind again..."

Lin: "I haven't seen you for two days. There's always a big crowd in you and me. There's only this place..."

Johnny was trying to refrain from moaning, and he was panting. He was shaking with pain.

Mei: "Lin! Someone here!"

Lin: "Oh...you..."

Mei: "Someone..."

Lin struck a match and held it up high, and immediately saw the injured Johnny standing near them. He is watching them too.

Lin: "He's that Johnny..."

Johnny waved his right hand weakly: "Blow it out...don't stay here..."

Mei pulls Lin: "Let's leave it alone..."

They slowly exited the hole. Johnny continued to move outwards along the wall, but backed away at the hole. A large group of boys and girls were gathering nearby to play games. Johnny sat down slumped, looking at his injured arm and sighing.

Theresa's living room. Pat and Nolan drink.

Tereza said sweetly: "Tell me, did you get poor Johnny back?"

She stopped talking and looked at the two men, wiping her eyes lightly with a small handkerchief.

Pat: "Someone's going to rescue him."

Tereza: "So, he's still near the factory now?"

Pat: "Sure, Dennis will find a way to find him."

Tereza: "Pat, honey, another drink!"

Pat raised his glass with a wry smile: "But they're only willing to give us a cup of tea..."

Tereza: "Where are you talking about?"

Pat: "Anise's house."

Tereza: "Okay, in five minutes we'll be sitting comfortably around the table and eating."

Tereza went out, leaving two men sitting by the warm fire. Melodious dancing music played in the room.

Sanliu

cloister. Tereza eavesdropped at the door.

Nolan's voice: "You know, she's asking for news."

Pat's voice: "You told her everything."

Nolan's voice: "You told her that Dennis went to try to save Johnny!"

Pat's voice: "For God's sake! Stop nagging."

Teresa's face was full of contempt. After a while she smiled again, closed her hands, and continued to eavesdrop on the door.

Sanqi

living room. Pat walked around the room, scrutinizing the furnishings.

Pat: "Everyone says she sells illicit goods and can do anything dirty. It's all slandering her. She's so generous!"

He picked up the bottle and filled his glass.

Nolan sarcastically: "You said it!"

Pat: "Look, the alcohol here is free!"

Nolan: "Yes! Be grateful!"

Pat lit up at him: "What's the matter with you?"

Nolan: "She's just a woman who pays hell's debt!"

Pat: "Hey, you're sitting warm here and talking a lot of bad things about people!"

Nolan: "Hmph, just wait and see! Maybe she will ask you for a price soon."

"Maybe, we shouldn't be here."

Nolan: "Let's go after we drink enough of her."

Sanba

cloister. Tereza, who was still eavesdropping by the door, frowned and walked quietly towards the telephone in the cloakroom.

As soon as she gestured, several men and women in the house came over.

Tereza pouted outside the door and said a few words softly, and then everyone quickly slipped out the door one by one.

She circled the delivery microphone with her hands and began to speak: "Police station! I'm going to the inspector general. I have something important."

She waited nervously, trimming her hair and pinching the cross on her chest.

Teresa: "Chief Inspector! I'm Teresa Oberling. I have two robbery guys with me. You always say I'm a bad guy, but now it's proven that I've always been willing to help you. I know where Johnny is... well, when you get to the corner, I'll lead them out of the house."

Tereza smiled and hung up the receiver.

Sanjiu

living room. When Tereza put the receiver back on, Pat and Nolan heard a ding bell. The two immediately became nervous.

Pat: "Someone's ringing the doorbell!"

Nolan: "Come on, drink your whiskey with peace of mind! You found it!"

Pat brought the cup to his lips. But violently shaking hands shook the wine out.

Nolan: "What's the matter?" He reached into his short jacket and took out a pistol.

Pat: "Don't ring, listen!"

Nolan: "I'm leaving!"

Pat: "Don't move, you idiot! Put the gun away, let her in, and teach her a good lesson."

They put on their coats and stood there staring at the door, the dancing and music continuing.

Pat. "Where did she go?"

Nolan: "Maybe out."

Instead, Pat calmed down: "I see what the hell she's up to!"

forty

cloister. Tereza lifted the lid of the letterbox behind the gate and put her ear to her ear. As soon as she heard the car stop around the corner, she turned off the lights and walked back into the room.

four one

living room. Tereza put on a dashing, aggressive gesture, which at once disintegrated the determination of the two men in their panic.

Tereza: "Listen, dude! A friend just gave me a message on the phone. You may have heard the ring. She said the police are coming for us. For your safety, darling. Run away. Come on! It's dark outside, you have a place to hide. Quick!"

Nolan: "This is a trap, you bitch!"

Pat: "Hi!"

Tereza swayed, feigning exasperation and sympathy. She stretched out her hands in pleading.

Tereza: "My God, this is so wrong!" She sobbed in grievance. "Don't wait any longer! Let's go before it's too late!"

They hesitated for a while, then walked out with her.

forty two

cloister. It was pitch black, and Tereza looked angry when she saw their pistols.

Tereza: "Don't show these guys, my dear! Do I have to tell you what to do?"

Pat and Nolan hid their pistols in their pockets.

Tereza: "Silence! Pat, honey, where are you? Nolan, how about you?"

She deliberately rattled the chain on the door, and when she heard the police approaching, she raised her voice and banged the door open.

Tereza: "Let's go! Good luck! Run..."

At this moment, she heard the sound of the police running, she immediately exerted all her strength, slammed the door behind these two hesitant shadows, and then leaned limply against the door.

Police Voice: "There are two! Split on the left!"

Two consecutive shots were fired. Tereza gripped the cross tightly and trembled.

Pat's voice: "Nolan!"

Nolan's voice: "Come on, Pat!"

Then a few more shots were fired. Tereza shivered and quickly made a cross on her chest. She sighed, straightened her waist again, and hurriedly opened the door and walked out.

four three

Street. A group of police surrounded the two bodies lying side by side on the sidewalk. Tereza squeezed forward to watch, but all she could see were her two pairs of feet sticking out.

The police officer waved vigorously: "Hey, go away!"

But she whimpered sadly. When the officer recognized her, she fell silent.

Officer: "Teresa, what are you laughing at! Didn't you say someone else has gone to Johnny?"

Tereza looked at the corpse, silent and ashamed.

Officer: "Go inside. I'll go with you."

After Tereza led the officer into the house, the door closed.

four four

Children's voices: "Raise your hands!"

Voice: "I got hit!"

Another voice: "I just got hit!"

Dennis came over during the quarrel, and a child left his companions and followed him closely.

Child: "Sir! Sir! Give me a coin, sir!"

Dennis: "Have the police ever been here?"

At this time the rest of the children also came over.

Child: "I've been here, but they left early."

Dennis: "Ah, it's all gone. Did you find the guy who killed?"

Child: "No, they found it!"

There was a burst of giggling and shouting from the rest of the children, and Dennis knew at once that it was a lie.

He took out a copper plate: "They didn't find it! Who told me, did they find it?"

Immediately the children scrambled to answer him. He looked around and saw a little girl on a running skate watching him, quietly withdrawing from among the children. Dennis threw a few copper sticks on the sidewalk and walked towards the little girl while the rest of the children were fighting for it. He crouched down and took out a shilling.

Dennis: "Have you seen that man?"

The little girl smiled shyly and looked around. She reached for the shilling.

Dennis: "Where is he?"

She pointed to a nearby street: "Over there."

Dennis: "In the house?"

Girl: "No, it's there."

She pointed further afield. Dennis saw a row of small bomb shelters there.

Dennis: "In the dugout?"

The girl nodded slowly, and Dennis gave her the money.

Dennis: "Which one is it? Point it to me. Take me there." When he saw the girl shrink back, he comforted, "Point it to me, good boy."

The girl pointed to one of them: "It's there!"

She squeezed her shilling and wanted to turn back.

Dennis: "Wait a minute! Did the police find him? Did they catch him?"

The girl shook her head.

Dennis: "Did that person run away?"

She reminisced for a moment and shook her head again. and ran after her companions in the distance.

Dennis looked around quickly and walked towards the dugout.

The light flickered in Johnny's eyes, and he groaned, getting up.

The match went out, and it was pitch black again.

Dennis: "Johnny! Johnny! Can you go?"

Johnny groaned in pain, "Just my arm..."

Dennis: "Then you can still go."

Sirens blared, and a police car roared past.

Dennis: "Listen!" He paused. "They must know you're in this area, listen! As soon as I'm out I run to the left to divert them away. When you hear three shots in a row , go out and go to the right, then plug in, and go to Anise's house."

Johnny, well, but... it's a long way, Dennis. "

Dennis: "This is the only chance. You can walk back. Johnny, I'm leaving. You stand by the door and wait for three shots before you go out."

After a brief silence, Johnny: "Dennis!"

no answer.

Johnny whispered, "Dennis! Did I kill that guy? Did he die?"

Still no answer.

Inside the bomb shelter. Johnny stood at the door. Two more gunshots were heard in the distance. He raised his head, glanced around, and hurried to the right.

fifty

Street. Johnny, who was walking quickly, stopped for a while, then dragged his weak footsteps and continued to walk forward.

May Day

Street. Dennis walked out of an alley in total darkness. He stood there for a while pretending to be a normal pedestrian, peeped around secretly, and then hurriedly patted the dust on his clothes with his hands. He tore off the bandage, crouched down and shoved it into a gutter.

far away. The two patrolling police officers glanced at each other and pointed to the figure of Dennis leaning over the gutter ahead.

Dennis ran down the street and jumped on a moving tram.

The two policemen walked quickly to the gutter, crouched down and looked down. One of them reached under the cover and took out the bandage. The two hurriedly looked at it, and hurriedly chased down the street.

five two

Inside the tram. Dennis stood between a drunken man and two young girls. The tram stopped, and many more passengers crowded up.

The conductor waved the tram to start. The tram jolted violently for a few yards, then came to a slow stop. The youth crowded on the pedals began to shout.

Voice: "Open it! Open it again!"

The two policemen just came over.

A policeman squeezed into the car: "Everyone on the pedals gets off! Get off now!"

The youths scrambled to jump out of the car. The police sneaked a glance inside the car. Saw Dennis.

Dennis turned his back to the policeman who was pushing over. At this moment, a passenger who was ordered to leave the tram bumped the policeman's hat over the policeman's eyes. Dennis saw it and rushed towards the door the driver was about to close.

The policeman roared immediately: "Close the door, driver! Don't let that man down!"

The driver blocked Dennis at once, and the door was pulled.

Dennis turned abruptly to face the policeman who had drawn his baton and pushed him among the passengers.

The policeman got up and jumped at him. The two scuffled back and forth in the car.

Dennis punched the light switch, which went out.

The police grabbed Dennis and pushed him onto the conductor's pedal. Passengers scattered in all directions. Dennis broke free and dashed to the broken window and jumped out of the car, followed by the police.

Dennis's leg was lame, and the three rolled into a ball in the mud again. Dennis suddenly dived down, and the two policemen fell. When he raised his hand to strike, another policeman came behind him, waving a baton, and gave Dennis a blow in the head. With a scream, he fell to the ground.

Surrounded by more police.

five three

Street. Johnny staggered through the bushes by the side of the road and trotted across the road with difficulty. A truck's headlights came on. He closed his eyes in confusion. The truck that nearly ran into him hurriedly made a sharp turn and drove away amid the angry shouts of the driver and assistant. But he slipped to the ground and lay in the middle of the road.

The two women shouted loudly and ran to the center of the street.

Lucy: "Knocked down!"

They leaned down and lifted Johnny up with their hands.

Modai: "Are you seriously injured?"

Johnny didn't answer.

Mo Dai: "We'd better call an ambulance."

Johnny gasped in pain. "Don't, leave me alone. I'll be fine in a while."

Lucy: "Okay, then go inside and have a rest."

They helped him across the road to their house.

May Fourth

living room. Lucy and Moday put Johnny on the recliner to sleep.

Lucy struck a match and lit the gas light. Modi lifted Johnny's legs and placed them on the armchair.

Modai: "His arm is broken!"

Lucy: "Really, that truck smashed his entire arm!"

Modai: "It's not."

She put a basin of water on the floor and knelt down to help Lucy take off Johnny's coat. Unbuttoning Johnny's blouse, they shrank back in fright when they saw the blood-soaked shirt.

Lucy: "My God! That's amazing."

Mo Dai said in fear: "Well, yes! It has to find a doctor."

Lucy: "Look at him!"

Johnny struggled to get up with an anxious look on his face, but the pain in the wound stopped him.

Johnny groaned, "Help me up!"

Lucy: "Ah, kid, don't worry, we'll go get you a doctor."

Johnny: "No, help me up!"

Johnny struggled again to get up. But weakness and excruciating pain caused him to collapse again feebly.

Lucy: "Moday, go to the doctor and tell him someone got hit by a truck here."

Modai: "I'll put my clothes on and go."

After Mo Dai walked out, when Lucy picked up his coat and looked at it carefully, her hand accidentally touched the pistol, and she realized it was very terrifying.

She stared at Johnny: "What are you doing? What will my man say when he comes back?"

Johnny: "Let me go now. You just lift me up from the recliner and I'll go."

Lucy: "Lie down and don't move!"

Modi dressed and went back to the room, and saw Lucy staring at the pistol without saying a word.

Modai: "My God!"

Lucy suppressed her panic and put the pistol on a small table beside her.

Lucy: "Look, people in town are saying that he escaped after getting hurt."

They exchanged glances and walked into the hall to talk quietly.

Modai: "Lucy, what shall we do with him?"

Lucy: "Modai, I can't... hand him over to the police."

Modai: "Lucy, neither can I."

Lucy sighed, looking at Johnny, who wanted to stand up again, and fell weakly again.

Lucy: "He escaped from prison a while ago, and they are suspending him to arrest him!"

Modai: "A thousand pounds!"

Lucy: "I'd rather die than get involved with this."

Modai: "Me too."

The door slammed.

Modai: "Alfie is back."

Lucy was a little flustered: "What should I do?"

A man in his fifties in a torn shirt walked into the living room.

Alfie: "Lucy, is there something wrong with the factory over there? The police have blocked the streets in this area." Suddenly he saw Johnny, "Lucy, what happened to him?"

Lucy gestured dignifiedly for Alfie to follow her into the kitchen. Immediately, Mo Dai followed him in, leaving Johnny on the chair alone.

kitchen.

Alfie: "Who is that guy?"

The women were silent. Alfie turned back to the door of the guest house, saw the pistol on the table, his voice changed, angry, worried, and scared.

Alfie: "It's him—Johnny McCann, not bad at all! He's the one the police are after."

Lucy: "I know, Alfie!"

Alfie: "Then you don't send him out! The police are catching him everywhere!"

Alfie took an evening paper from his pocket. Fear and irritation made his voice agitated. Lucy screeched into an argument with him.

living room. Johnny, who was lying on the armchair, heard the quarrel, got up, buttoned his shirt and jacket, tucked in Lucy's incompletely wrapped headband, then crawled over to get his coat, got up and walked away.

Lucy's voice: "I'm not saying he's not Johnny. I'm thinking about where he is now!"

Alfie's voice: "Hey, I'm thinking about the unjust death he killed."

Johnny was stunned, and then went to the door with all his strength.

Lucy's voice: "For his sins, God will judge him."

Alfie's voice: "I don't pity these guys who kill innocent people."

Lucy's voice: "But now he's dying too."

Alfie's voice: "Then call the police! Or get a doctor and take him to the hospital."

Lucy's voice: "Although I don't go to church, I still have Christian feelings and can't do this!"

Alfie's voice: "In this way, we will also be caught in it."

Lucy's sarcastic voice: "then call the police quickly, as long as you are not afraid of how his friends will deal with you; besides, you can still get that big bonus."

Johnny staggered, staggering helplessly across the room, slamming against the door and moaning.

Lucy, Alfie, and Moday glanced at the door, hurried into the hall, and saw Johnny standing upright and slowly walking towards them, standing aside in horror.

Johnny: "I'm leaving now. You don't have to worry anymore."

Lucy picked up the coat he had dropped, draped it over his shoulders, and buttoned him the top button.

Lucy: "Okay!"

Johnny: "Open the door and I won't bother you again."

Johnny shuffled toward the door. Alfie felt a sense of sympathy.

Alfie: "Hey! Wait a minute!"

He took a small bottle of whisky from the shelf and uncorked it.

Alfie: "This is for my children to drink when they come back from the East. You drink it to refresh yourself!"

Johnny clenched the mouth of the bottle with his teeth and poured some wine into his mouth. He stretched out his right hand to open the door, and a gust of wind blew in. He turned to look at Lucy, then stumbled out.

Alfie saw that Maud was still holding the pistol.

Alfie: "Throw that guy in the gutter!"

Mo Dai grabbed a cap from the coat hook and hurried out.

five seven

Street. After Maud threw the pistol into the gutter, he chased after Johnny who was walking in the dark. She put the oversized cap over his bare head.

Modai: "Put this on!"

Mo Dai saw him slowly showing a grateful smile and ran away, leaving him in the night wind.

five eight

Street. Johnny walked on like a drunk. In front of a parked carriage, he tried to open the door, but didn't have the strength.

Three soldiers came and looked at him carefully. Johnny immediately hid his hands in his coat.

The first soldier pointed to the carriage: "Friend, do you want to go in?"

Second soldier: "He's drunk!"

They opened the carriage door and pushed Johnny in.

The soldiers walked away, and Johnny slumped on the seat.

another street. The three soldiers walked up to the police cordon and showed their passes. There is a police car on the road where people passing by are checked.

Street. Jamie came out of the nearby coachman's shed, took off the felt covering the horse's back, got into the driver's seat, whipped the whip, and drove away.

Johnny was still in the carriage.

Jamie drove his car closer to the blockade. He greeted the police officers he knew.

Jamie: "Hey! You haven't found him yet?"

Policeman: "But it didn't escape, Jamie, are you going home? Come on over!"

One cop looked at Johnny in the car, and then to the other: "I can't imagine him being so drunk!"

The carriage drove past.

Annie's door. Grandma stood anxiously at the door, carefully watching the police cars parked along the street. In the opposite room an inspector general was giving orders to a police officer. Catherine brushed past her grandmother.

Catherine said as she walked, "Watch out! We've been tipped off."

The police officer on duty caught a glimpse of grandma standing by the door: "What are you doing?"

Grandma: "Look at the fun," yelled at him loudly. "You are so majestic, James!"

Policeman: "Come in, don't make trouble."

Officers approached the house from across the street with four police officers. Anise was getting dressed when Grandma turned and ducked into the house.

Grandma: "They're here!"

Anise: "Just sit in this chair and continue reading your scriptures, ignore them."

Grandma sighed and sat down by the fireplace: "I used to be able to deal with a dozen of them with this mouth."

Anise: "Now you'll give them a taste of the silence."

Anise hurried upstairs.

bedroom. Anise opened a small closet and took down a men's top.

There was a sound of knocking on the door downstairs: "Open the door!"

After Anise put on the men's top, she put on her own. She found a pistol and several bullets in the men's pocket.

Inspector: "Search upstairs first."

bedroom. Anise took a gun and bullets, turned off the gas light and walked to the stairs, just as two policemen hurried upstairs.

Police: "Who are you?"

Anise covered her right hand with her shirt: "I live here."

Policeman: "Go down and wait..."

The door was guarded by police, and the inspector was directing the search. Anise went into the kitchen.

six six

kitchen. Grandma is sitting inside. Anise winked hastily. Grandma took the gun and bullets in one go.

Grandma whispered: "They won't search me!"

She put the bullet in a large skirt pocket and tucked the pistol into the right sleeve. The door opened and the officer came in, staring intently at Anise.

Officer: "Where is he?" The voice was low, but confident.

Anise: "My father is out."

Officer: "I didn't ask your father."

Grandma took the rosary from her pocket and prayed silently.

Police officer: "Come on, I'm asking the big gang!"

Anise: "Ask my friend?"

Officer: "I'm asking about Johnny."

The police officer looked down at Anise and put the muzzle of the gun under her jaw, the tears in her eyes almost bursting out of her arrogance.

Anise: "I don't know anything."

Officer: "You're looking for him too. Is that true?"

Anise rose from the muzzle, pushed the pistol away with her right hand, and stood up in front of the officer in a fit of rage.

Anise: "What are you doing here?"

The officer said quietly: "We didn't come here for him to break a window. He killed someone. Don't you understand what the problem is?"

Anise: "It's his business."

Officer: "It's your business too."

Anise: "I'm not responsible for him."

Officer: "But that gang stayed here after the crime. Johnny lived here before the crime."

There was the sound of police rummaging through boxes and cabinets upstairs.

The police officer pointed to the upstairs: "If you can find evidence here, your matter is not light."

Anise: "Then please search."

Officer: "I want you to tell the truth."

Anise: "Do you want me to tell you where Johnny is?"

The inspector appeared at the door.

Inspector: "The rest of the place has been searched. Sir."

Officer: "Search this room!"

Inspector: "Yes." He beckoned three policemen to come in. They lifted the carpet, removed the tables and chairs, and checked the house.

A policeman said to the grandma on the sofa: "Stand up, old lady!"

Grandma stood up slowly, and Su Lu said: ""You keep the door open like this! "

Anise said to the police: "Close the door! This old lady is afraid of the cold."

The police officer slammed the door: "She's not the only one who is afraid of the cold tonight."

Policeman: "Okay, old lady, sit down."

When Grandma sat down again with a face full of anger, Anise saw the exposed muzzle at a glance. She deliberately dropped her handbag on the ground. The officer gave her an immediate look and immediately grabbed the handbag. Only then did grandma's eyes catch the look from Anise. She understood, changed the position of her hand quietly, and skillfully tucked the pistol into the cuff. The officer turned his head at this moment, and he looked suspiciously at Anise. After a while, he turned to the police who were checking the floor.

Officer: "What's down there, Inspector?"

Grandma: "Rat's nest! And the six pence I fell off once!"

The inspector flashed his flashlight for the officer to peer down through the opening.

The inspector straightened up and put the flashlight in his pocket: "The light smells bad, sir."

Officer: "Put things back where they were."

The inspector instructed the police to put the floor back in place. At this time, the officer was in the room tapping his hand somewhere on the wall for a while, and then poking at the skirting board with his cane. He suddenly pointed to Anise's top as he trotted closer to her. She slowly released her hand, and her shirt slipped to the ground. The men's top on her body was exposed.

Officer: "Whose is this top?"

Anise didn't answer.

Officer: "Answer my question!"

Anise: "My father's."

Officer: "Didn't he live here for two years?"

Anise threw the top to him: "It still has my father's name on it."

The officer examines the markings inside the jacket.

Anise: "Put it on when it's cold."

The officer looked up at her, smiled consciously, and threw his top on the couch.

Inspector: "It's all done, sir."

He and three police officers stood by the door, waiting for orders.

Officer: "Go out, I'll be there in a while."

The inspector and the police went out. The officer and Anise looked at each other, and he closed the door.

Anise: "You've all searched, what did you find?"

Officer: "I found everything I was looking for."

Anise: "Smoke smell, bandage pack, and that top, right?"

The officer said quietly and kindly: "More than that."

Anise: "Not much more!"

Officer: "There are things you can't hide."

Anise: "I'm not afraid of that."

Officer: "Johnny is in the palm of the law, and if you try to step in and help him escape, you're making trouble for yourself."

The officer walked to the door, opened it, nodded to Anise, and walked out.

Annes buttoned up and stood in front of Grandma and held out her hand.

Anise: "Give me the pistol and the bullets."

Grandma was horrified: "Johnny is in the palm of the law. Dennis caught them again..." She grabbed Anise's hands and stroked them. "You'll never find Johnny again! My boy! What's the point of taking the risk?"

Grandma was sobbing. Anise slowly pulled her hand out of the old man's palm, put the gun and bullets into the pocket of her jacket, and gently stroked the old man's head.

Outside Annie's house. Anise walked out the door, glanced at the surrounding police, and walked quickly along the sidewalk.

Main Street. Jamie drives the carriage. He solicited passengers along the way, but did not meet a single customer.

In front of a large hotel, a man and a woman walked out of the turnstile wearing dinner party costumes. The man stopped the car.

The man said to Jamie, "Go to the Rika Theater." Then he stepped forward and opened the car door.

The woman gasped in fright when she saw Johnny huddled in the car.

Woman: "Ah! There's someone inside, a jacket!"

Man: "Ah!"

He pushed the door shut, walked down the sidewalk and called another carriage.

Jamie was stunned. He leaned into the car and spotted Johnny. Jamie climbed out of the car and opened the door.

Jamie: "Come out!" His eyes were startled when he saw the blood-stained bandages. "My God...you are...that person!"

Johnny opened his eyes to look at him. At this moment, a car honked its horn behind.

The police shouted: "Hey! Let's go..."

Jamie pushed the door shut and drove the car away. He turned left into a quiet street. Stopped by a stack.

stack. Jamie jumped out of the car, pulled Johnny out of the car, and helped him inside.

Jamie: "Look, sir, you wouldn't mention me if you got caught by the police?"

Jamie helped him to lie down in a wooden shed, and hurried back to the carriage. As he climbed into the driver's seat, a figure flashed in front of him.

Shell: "I see, Jamie, is he badly hurt?"

Jamie: "Never mind your business, Shel. Go away!"

After Jamie left, Shel looked around and slipped under the wooden shed. The figure swept across Johnny's face and disappeared.

pier. A brightly lit passenger ship is moored.

In the distance, many police officers stood beside the ranks of passengers preparing to board the ship. On the river, a few seagulls were circling, passing over the passenger ship and the wharf over the sea.

Anise walked to the front where the crates were stacked, and was greeted by a young sailor.

After the sailor heard her whisper: "Why are you looking for me? There are many of them in this city."

Anise: "In case they can't...can you help? Take your boat..."

Sailor: "It's going to leave at eleven o'clock. But you don't know where he is yet?"

Anise: "I don't know yet. I'll go to Father Tom's and ask."

She turned away.

Inside the police car on the street, the police station is releasing information about Johnny. The officer sitting next to the driver suddenly stared straight ahead.

Looking out, Anise was walking in a hurry with a look of alertness.

The police car was moving slowly, and the officer stared at Anise. He raised his hand to the driver: "Stop!"

As soon as Anise approached, he greeted with a smile: "Ah, are you out for a walk?"

Anise was startled and nodded.

The police officer said kindly: "Okay! I'm very satisfied that you didn't intervene in this matter."

The officer watched her walk towards a tram. With a wave of his hand, a detective immediately got out of the car and followed.

The tram came to a stop. After Anise got into the car, the detective dropped the cigarette butt and entered the car. He sat down and smiled leisurely at Anise.

another street. The tram stopped. Anise got out of the car and left. The detective took a cigarette out of the pack and lit it. He stared at Anise, and after throwing away the match, he strode after him.

Anise seemed a little overwhelmed when she found the plainclothes following. She saw a shiny sign:

ikady ballroom

seven three

In front of the ballroom. Anise slipped in.

seven four

Inside the ballroom. The band on the bandstand was playing a raspy sailor dance. Anise darts around the crowded dance floor.

The music picked up speed and people were dancing wildly. Anise hurried along the walls of the ballroom, looking up to the door, just in time to catch a glimpse of the detective entering. She immediately slipped onto the dance floor and danced with a young man.

The screeching cry of the band's brass instruments made the advance and retreat of the dance steps even more deafening. Anise led the dance partner to the Taiping Gate, suddenly dropped him, opened the door and walked out.

Loud dance music, crazy dance moves...

seven five

Street. Anis, who was in a hurry, walked along the sidewalk with a relaxed expression. Just as she was about to look back, the detective was beside her.

Detective: "You literally danced with me!"

Anise was silent.

Detective: "It's a nice place. I thought you'd stay there."

Anise still didn't answer.

Detective: "Don't go to see old Father Tom! It will save a lot of trouble."

Walking to the door of the house adjoining a chapel, Anise stopped.

Detective: "Are you still going?"

Anise: "Yes."

The detective smiled, picked up the knocker and knocked a few times: "I tell you, miss, you can't save Johnny anymore."

When the gatekeeper opened the door, he walked away.

The priest's aisle. White-haired, energetic Father Tom shook hands with Anise.

Priest: "I'm waiting for you."

Anise: "Father Tom, you don't think of me as an outsider, do you?"

Father: "How can I treat you as an outsider? Are you here to ask Johnny about it?"

Anise: "Yes, Father!"

The priest pondered for a while: "I'm waiting for someone to come here and ask him." He smiled at Anise. "Well...I'm having a guest and his bird is sick. We'll have to hear what he has to say."

Father Tom led Anise into the living room.

seven seven

living room. In front of the fireplace, Shelly was sitting in a chair. Small in stature, he spoke softly, but his eyes shone with a surreptitious frenzy, with a parrot in a delicate cage on his lap. The door opened, and Annie and Father Tom entered. Shell stood up.

Father to Anise: "This is my guest Shell." To Shell, "This is..."

Anise: "Anne Sullivan."

She sat down in an armchair.

The priest sat down in his chair. "Shell is worrying about his birds."

Shelly to Anise: "Do you like this thing?"

Anise: "A parrot? There are many of these birds."

Shell: "This bird, I call him Johnny."

He lowered his head to see the birdcage, and then slyly observed Anise sitting in the chair.

Shell: "I gotta tell you, miss. Johnny's a black sheep, so keep his cage locked."

Father: "Okay! This bird has become a man!"

Anise to Shell: "What's wrong with him?"

Shell: "Let me tell you, he was in prison... I mean in the cage... escaped!"

Anise: "But isn't he in your hands now?"

Shell made a disapproving look.

The priest interjected: "Tell me, what happened to him?"

Schell whispered in a rough voice: "Killing!" He held up the cage and brought it to the priest. "You didn't see his left arm hurt."

Shell glanced at Anise, then back at the bird.

Priest: "How did you get him back?"

Sher: "A friend sent me a letter, and I got him back. He's badly injured..."

Priest: "How is he now?"

Shell: "He didn't even say a word."

Priest: "If he was hurt so badly, maybe he might as well be dead..."

Shell: "Father, this world is tough." He sighed, "If I don't take the opportunity to make some money, I'll starve."

Anise to Shell: "What are you going to do with him? Where is he?"

Shell said vaguely, "I can tell you that there are more people willing to give me a lot of money for Johnny."

Anise: "Police?"

Shell: "No, they are! I mean his friends."

Anise said angrily, "You're going to betray him! Where is he?"

Father: "If you know where he is, well, go ahead. What do you want?"

Shell: "Money, a thousand pounds."

Priest: "Silly guy, money can't make you happy!"

Anise said to Shell: "First, where is he?"

Shell: "I'll give him to you."

Anise: "Where?"

The priest said to Anise: "Okay, my boy. Sher has seen him, we can rest assured." He turned to Sher, "Go and bring him here."

Sher jumped up: "But this job is not easy to do."

The priest gently pushed him to the door: "You try it."

Shell: "Hey, Father, how much did you pay?"

Priest: "I'm poor. She doesn't have any savings."

Shell: "Then how can we fix this?"

Priest: "I can imbue you with a precious faith."

Sher was puzzled: "What did you say? Father, when you say you want to drink beer, can you get it with this stuff?"

Father: "You and I are both poor, Shel. Bring Johnny and we'll talk about the way of life. You'll get a good deal out of it."

Shell: "You're talking about that belief? How much is it worth?"

Priest: "Trust me. Come back and talk about everything. Okay?"

Sher nodded and walked towards the door. Anise got up to go out with Shell.

Shelly smiled: "No, no, no."

The priest said to Anise: "Just stay here."

As soon as he closed the door, he looked at Anise unforgiving.

Father: "We must persuade Johnny to surrender. It's time to let himself judge his own evil. Are you trying to cover him from the police?"

Anise nodded. "There's someone who loves him. I ask you to give Johnny to her."

Priest: "Do you know what this is about, my child? Is she afraid of losing him?"

Anise nodded: "Because she loves him."

Father: "The men and women of the world call many things love: jealousy, emptiness, greed..."

Anise: "And also call some good things love: constancy and compassion."

Priest: "But these things did not require her to sacrifice for it!"

Anise: "Father, he's been hiding in her house since he escaped. Maybe he didn't love her or even paid attention to her. He only had that organization in his mind; but she was happy. She loved him, if The law wants his life, and she'll go with him."

The priest was horrified by her: "No! She has neither the power nor the strength to do so!"

Anise: "But she's confident she's right."

Priest: "This is evil!"

Anise: "No, Father. It's virtue!"

She got up from the chair. Father Tom finally understood from her eyes that she was talking about herself.

Priest: "You... your conscience" Is this really your belief? "

Anise: "Yes, Father."

Priest: "But, can this last forever?"

Anise: "Of course, Father."

Father Tom sat down, clasped his hands on his knees, and looked at her suspiciously.

Anise: "Am I waiting here?"

Father: "Yeah...yes...don't go." There was a moment of silence, "If I knew this when Neal was gone..."

He caught sight of two policemen coming from the intersection and had to pace away. While walking, he secretly groped and untied the loose bandages and threw them into the gutter.

Johnny stumbled into the bar.

An old waiter immediately whispered to Feng Xi.

Waiter: "Johnny McCann..."

Feng Xi: "Shut up!"

He pondered for a moment and poured himself a glass of whisky.

The second waiter asked suspiciously, "Who is that guy who just came in?"

First waiter: "Johnny!"

The second waiter: "My God! Shut up, don't make trouble!"

The third waiter came over, looking as nervous and flustered as they did.

The second waiter: "I'm leaving, before..."

The third waiter: "Look at the boss!"

Fonsi put a glass of whiskey on the tray. Then he poured himself a second glass of wine and drank it in one gulp.

The first waiter: "He's emboldening himself!"

Feng Xi shook his head, lifted the counter board, and approached the first compartment. The waiters whispered. Everyone looked nervous and scared.

The third waiter: "Watch out, something is going to happen."

The noise and hustle and bustle next to the wine bar are increasing, and the people who are talking and laughing are getting more and more crowded.

Feng Xi: "Hey! Listen!"

Johnny was confused: "Just let me stay here for a while."

Feng Xi sat down beside him, hesitated for a moment, then leaned over and shook Johnny.
