The overall completion of this film is high, and it can be said to be the best in recent dramas. Let me start with a few points that I don't think are controversial.
First: the main plot is very clear and tight (I really can’t understand the point of view that the main line is not clear, please forgive my narrowness: if this is called the main line is not clear, it can only mean that there is a problem with understanding, my narrow brain can’t think of anything else possibility). The narrative rhythm of the side story and the main story is also very closely coordinated. By the end of the first season, the main story line has been completed, the villains have all been caught, and there are no big holes in the large and small side lines. Very in place. The most important aspects of writing are quite good.
Second: Why does it seem like there are so many branch lines? Because the theme is very good: The Dogs of Berlin, this show has been positioned as a group portrait of the bottom people in Berlin from the beginning. My husband keeps saying that he doesn't like Kurt's lack of business every day, and I think this is the beauty: investigating the case is not the most important thing, but showing the living conditions of people from all walks of life in Berlin. They are all Berlin dogs. The truth of the star case is also the epitome of the whole story: the case itself is quite trivial and completely unimportant. The important thing is that all forces have found excuses to do it. The close-up of the group portrait at the end of the season once again emphasizes the wide-area depiction.
Third: the sense of reality is relatively strong. The interweaving of multiple forces is easy to produce a sense of plot in a dog-blood TV series, but this one does not, and everyone's plot is quite satisfactory. Of course, from another point of view, this is also a place that I am not very satisfied with. The fact that there are few wonderful characters in real life does not mean that artistic processing cannot be used to increase the viewing experience. Like Breaking Bad, it is really cool, and people still have a sense of reality. super strong.
Fourth: The narrative pacing and editing scheduling are really unquestionably high-level. So high that I don't think there's any need for an explanation....
What I am most dissatisfied with is that the story is not dark enough. As someone who lives next door in Germany, I swear that the setting of the male protagonists in this story is a bit brighter than the reality. The essence of the two male protagonists is actually kind and smart people, and it feels too natural. (The black policeman Kurt insists on the big festival every time he is in danger. Even if he tries his best, he still has to keep the big festival. hum........It's kind of boring...)
What I feel most comfortable about is the overall atmosphere it depicts up and down the bottom of German society. France also has a lot of neo-Nazis, far-rights, immigrants with similar social problems, and I can feel some fresh flavors. Makes me look forward to the sequel.
