Good suspense drama - Season 2 is better than Season 1
Recommended: Friends who like suspense-solving dramas
This drama has a strong retro beauty and a delicate tone, and the details from clothing, accessories, furniture, newspapers and so on are very elegant. Coupled with the retro style of the film, it is easy to substitute for the post-World War II atmosphere.
All four of them worked in the Blakeley Code Breaking Center during World War II and have their own specialties. Some are good at memory, some are good at language, and some are good at data pattern analysis. After the war, they sealed away their pride and remembrance of their past glory, and integrated them into their daily life in peacetime.
The beginning of the story revolves around several homicides against women. One of the four, "Susan", sensitively analyzed the criminal's criminal pattern and an undiscovered incident that the police might have missed based on the information published in the newspaper. Homicide case. As the investigation deepened, she was out of control, so she contacted several former colleagues who worked in the same group in Blakely to jointly investigate the case.
The show has many highlights:
1. The protagonists are not all-powerful heroes
Basically, whether it is an American TV series or the Sherlock Holmes series before the British TV series, the key protagonists in the detective dramas are all-around heroes, who can not only have a good relationship with the police station in order to obtain police information and materials, but also have various advanced equipment to obtain them. The first opportunity, the worst is the worst, and there are weapons and equipment to ensure safety.
This show doesn't have any! Dear protagonists, some are housewives who need to go home on time to take care of their families; even girls who have been raped; another is a waiter who works in a cafe, and it is very difficult to ask for leave. The advancement of the plot is very in line with their respective identities. The advancement of the plot is more dependent on various public newspaper information and obtained documents, as well as various reasoning and thinking. Under all kinds of brainstorming, the plot is compact and the plot is tense.
Among them, they encountered various difficulties, family incomprehension, being fired and losing their jobs, and even the fear of face-to-face with criminals.
2. Warmth and responsibility
In the case-solving drama, what are the detectives for? There is always a motive to convince the audience that the dramas represented by Sherlock Holmes are based on the detective's superpowers. Is Sherlock Holmes for the sake of saving people and justice? —Perhaps, it’s a piggyback at best. Sherlock Holmes is motivated by intellectual pleasure and to break his boring life.
This drama is not at all. The girls are still in the midst of difficulties, threats to their families by criminals, threats to their own lives, and nightmares brought about by horrific scenes that they cannot face. . Their previous jobs in Blakely were just civil servants cracking passwords, with no superpowers, and the force value was close to 0. In the face of sin, the driving force to move forward is the sense of responsibility to save people. Whether it's season one or season two, it's very moving.
The play is progressing layer by layer in terms of plot development, and it looks very enjoyable. Sophisticated details and a strong retro atmosphere are also very comfortable. The only shortcoming is that the end of the first season is a bit abrupt compared to the previous layers. Susan's character was a bit extreme and hazy in the first season.
Compared to the second season, both of which have been greatly improved. Alice, introduced in the second season, has a brighter and more credible character. The second season's crime-solving session is also more reasonable.
Five-star recommendation for the second season, four and a half stars for the first season.
