Can you get the letter I'm afraid to send?
Miko stepped onto the bridge where Pakhjan jumped into the river. She looked down from above, and with just one glance at the rushing water, she retreated back. The wind blew away the sun hat that Miko didn't have time to hold down on her head. Watching the hat fly off the bridge, fly farther and farther, land on the river and float away in the direction of the current, she suddenly saw a trace of freedom.
Did that girl float away like this too?
Following the hat to the river under the bridge, Miko sat on the big rock for a long time. She took out her notebook, trying to record her fleeting thoughts, and raindrops began to wet the pages, more and more falling. She didn't run away, and continued to sit in the rain, letting the rain wet her hair, her clothes, the big stone under her butt, and her heart gradually filled with sourness.
Now that you get wet, you don't need to avoid and fear, remembering that pain itself is salvation.
She figured it out.
"Please, before I die, I want it once. I don't want anything else, just once... I want to be a man, that's what I want."
Wet, she went directly to the house of the employer who had decided never to come again, to fulfill the wish of the paralyzed old man.
Faced with this sudden change, the paralyzed old man looked at Miko in amazement. In the bathroom, he silently accepted this long-cherished favor. In the slow rhythm, holding the face of the paralyzed old man, Miko calmly burst into tears.
This is a very classic plot in the Korean movie "Poem" released by Lee Chang-dong in 2010.
Meizi, who lives in poverty but has always been enthusiastic, is 65 years old. She lives with her grandson on the government's subsistence allowance and nanny's salary. Miko loves poetry, and she hopes to write one by the end of the poetry training class. Because of his own inability to discipline, the grandson and the boys gang-raped a schoolmate named Pakhchen, causing her to commit suicide because of the humiliation. The weight of this reality, which should not have been endured in the first place, was placed on this ignorant old woman—the guilt for one life and the compensation of 5 million won. It is against this background that the story takes place.
The image of Miko having sex with a paralyzed old man is always in my mind. This is disgusting, no less disgusting than the disgusting Xiaolongnu was tainted by Yin Zhiping. It is indeed great, the greatness that gives hope to the cesspool after the flowers have withered. The smell is not the cesspit's fault, why can't it be attracted to flowers.
"Every time I encounter sad things, while I can't help feeling sad, there will be another voice telling me, yes, that's how it feels. Remember this kind of sadness and let it go next time you act." The same is true for Meizi Think about it. She loves poetry, whether it is the joy of birds or the pain of falling leaves, the kindness of strangers or the indifference of relatives, she will record it while feeling it. Poetry, are you here?
Since she couldn't redeem her grandson's mistakes, Miko wanted to feel the same way, and wanted to know the girl's pain, humiliation, and her decision at the moment she jumped off the bridge. Since Miko's heart has been soaked in heavy world affairs, and she can no longer feel the beauty purely, why can't she satisfy the request of the paralyzed old man and leave him a trace of happiness as a thought? Feeling the feelings of the dead, and bringing thoughts to the living, may be much better than sticking to the so-called self-esteem and chastity.
Miko's soul is pure and sensitive, just like her name, as beautiful as it doesn't eat human fireworks. She would escape from the discussion on how to use compensation to cover the mouths of the victim's family to see the cockscomb blooming outside the window; she would also steal the girl's portrait and put it on the dining table, ignoring her grandson's chill; she would happily share her daughter's Sharing the story of studying poetry, but never mentioning her Alzheimer's disease and the scandal of her grandson... She seems to be drifting between reality and poetry. She should be enjoying her old age, and she suffers cruelty that does not belong to her age.
At the end of the film, the teacher of the poetry training class received Miko's poem in the last class, but the only student who wrote the poem did not arrive as scheduled. She nostalgia, repentance, and then released. Maybe in this world, only Miko truly understands and loves Pahejin.
How are you over there? How lonely is it? Is the sunset still red? Are the birds still singing on the path to the forest? Can you get the letter I'm afraid to send? Can I convey... what I'm afraid to confess? Will time pass? Do roses wither? Now is the time to say goodbye Like the wind that comes and goes Like a shadow that promises fulfilled to the end Sealed with love and kisses the grass on my weary feet The little footprints behind me Now it's time to say goodbye As the night falls, the candles are lit again Are you on? Here I am praying... No one sheds tears... You know I love you so much One hot noon in summer, the old path that looks like Dad's face in the long wait, or even a lonely wildflower that turns its head shyly Love so much but hear your chant how my heart is so moved I bless you before crossing the black river | with the last breath of my soul I start dreaming a sunny morning... I wake up again and the sun is dazzling I see you...stand by my side - "The Song of Saint Enos"
