The annual college entrance examination is finally over, some students will be happy, some may be disappointed. But, it doesn't matter, these are just a part of life, a small part.

Life isn't all exams anyway, and sometimes it's even harder to choose than the questions on the exam.

In this social "examination" where people of all colors and others are chasing interests, what choices will you make? Today's film "Graduation Exam" is based on the Romanian college entrance examination, which gives us a lot of directions for thinking about life.

Romania is located in southeastern Europe and is a developed capitalist country. Although the land area is small and the population is not large, it belongs to high welfare and people's happiness is also very high. Here, when middle school students graduate, they also need to pass the graduation examination to decide which university to go to, which is equivalent to the college entrance examination in our country.

The protagonist of the story, Romeo, is a well-known local doctor. The circle around him is very wide. The local sheriff is his junior, the director of the education committee, the deputy mayor, etc. He can basically talk and keep in touch with each other.

In addition to accumulating some contacts, Romeo, who was middle-aged, also encountered a crisis. One was the relationship between husband and wife, and the other was the education of his daughter Eliza.

As for the relationship, he has long lost his feelings for his wife, who has lived with him for decades, and simply maintains the relationship with his daughter who is about to go abroad for high school. On the surface, he lives a normal life with his wife, but behind the scenes, Romeo, who can't stand the loneliness, maintains a lover relationship with a family member of a patient he once had.

Looking at it this way, Romeo is simply a scumbag who betrays his family behind his back. But what happened next made me feel even a little sympathy for him.

The turning point of Romeo's childhood happened to his daughter Alicia. Alyssa has excellent academic performance and received invitations from two prestigious schools in the UK before graduating, but if she wants to go abroad, she must complete the senior high school graduation examination (Romanian college entrance examination) with an average score of 9.5 (out of 10) to get a scholarship. Study abroad. I thought my daughter could pass the exam easily, but an accident happened at the juncture.

One morning, Romeo, eager to meet his lover, did not send his daughter to the school, but placed it at the intersection not far from the school. Not long after he left, his daughter Eliza was attacked by gangsters, although it was not a big deal. He was in danger, but he was still frightened, and his right hand was also injured. He was approaching the crucial graduation exam, and something like this happened again. He only scored 8 points in the first exam.

In this way, in order to get the scholarship to study abroad smoothly, Alisha must get full marks in the rest of the exams. Under such circumstances, Romeo, who was deeply remorseful, began to use his personal connections to pave the way for his daughter.

In the process, Romeo began to be changed step by step. First, he, who was upright before, communicated with the director of the examination committee through the deputy mayor, so that he could get his daughter's paper for easy grading. The price was that Romeo, who was a doctor, had to first perform a liver transplant on the deputy mayor.

One wave after another, Romeo's rendezvous with his lover was discovered by his daughter again, which led to the complete disintegration of the family that had long been cracked, and the daughter, after learning what Romeo had done, chose to give up going abroad and stay in Romania and Russia. Staying with boyfriends who sell used motorcycles.

In the end, Romeo faces charges after prosecutors discover an illegal transaction with the deputy mayor, and Romeo, who has lost everything, finally chooses to support his daughter's decision.

The plot is basically like this, and the good thing about this movie is that it reflects some aspects of Romanian society through what the father does for his daughter. Next, let’s talk about Er Qianjun’s opinion.

First of all, Romania's human society and government corruption. After his daughter's accident, Romeo didn't think about delaying the test through formal channels, but used his relationship to find a way to extend his daughter's test time and test treatment. His police chief and the director of the test committee were both helped by the deputy mayor. In order to meet Romeo's needs, he also used his connections in the medical community to try to get the deputy mayor to "jump the queue" and receive a liver transplant in advance.

In terms of the government's incompetence, the police department is the most prominent. After Alyssa was attacked by gangsters, the case could not be solved for a long time. First of all, the suspect portrait artist in the police station is an amateur painter, and he can't promote the progress of the case at all. Second, Romeo found the camera at the street intersection where Romeo's daughter was attacked. The police didn't find it before. None of them attacked Romeo's daughter.

Second, the film also accuses the local college entrance examination system of being rigid and inhumane. Romeo's daughter was denied admission for her first exam after her injury, on the grounds that the bandage around her arm might carry a cheat sheet... and her daughter had to take the exam even if she was injured, otherwise she would be disqualified, and all this was only Can be changed through human relationships.

Again, indifferent social relations. There are three such relationships in this film. One is between Romeo and his wife. It is only the children who have maintained their relationship for many years, otherwise there is no need to exist. The second is between Romeo and his mother. For work and his daughter's exam, Romeo only has a caring relationship for his sick mother. After his mother fainted, he did not choose to accompany him, but hurried home with his daughter Prepare for tomorrow's exam. The third is the relationship between the passers-by who discovered Romeo's daughter who was attacked and Romeo's daughter. A total of three people witnessed the attack, including her boyfriend, but no one called the police. The boyfriend's call was made through a disposable phone card.

Furthermore, it is selfishness as a parent. In the film, Romeo's actions are actually purely for his own daughter. Although he is relying on the "back door" relationship to open the way, as the prosecutor investigating corruption at the end of the film said, everyone has children at home. If you use this disgraceful method to solve such a thing, do other people's children have to take a disgraceful way when something happens to them? Everyone is doing things with this disgraceful behavior, and sooner or later a person of integrity will turn bad, because it has become a rule of life.

Finally, I will discuss two issues with you.

1. One of the reasons why Romeo tried his best to let his daughter go abroad was to see the darkness and corruption of the society he was in. That's why he wants his daughter to go abroad to have a better life, but will this make his daughter no longer eroded by the darkness of society?

2. In this human society, Romeo said this: some things are the most important results, such as the diploma of the exam. Does the process matter or the outcome?

Graduation quotes

  • Romeo: Eliza, you have to do your best. It'd be a pity to miss this chance. Some important steps in life depend on small things. And some chances shouldn't be wasted. You know, in '91, your Mum and I decided to move back. It was a bad decision. We thought things would change, we thought we'd move mountains. We didn't move anything. I have no regrets, though. At least we tried...
