Everyone has a cage from which they cannot escape

The director uses a documentary filming technique to present a real picture of life, people living in predicament. Rosetta is in an almost extreme situation, an alcoholic mother, a poor living environment, and the repeated torture of unemployment, employment and unemployment. I saw a girl who desperately wanted to live in a desperate situation, longing for a normal life. Following Rosetta's breath and footsteps, we see that despair is the norm in life, and we only feel the cruelty and absurdity of the world. Even the warm stroke in the film is short-lived, when Rosetta has dinner at Leo's rental, the two dance to music on the radio, and Rosetta feels like she has A job, a friend, she seemed to see hope, but the reality immediately forced her back to her original world, and she finally collapsed. No matter how hard she struggled and how she wanted to live, it all seemed meaningless.

For the portrayal of the life encountered, there is a French film-like paranoia to the image and an American independent film (especially Cassavetes) with the same super-control of the plot. The entire film is composed almost entirely of single shots that follow the actors' performances. This extreme paranoia is also a perfect embodiment. But I don't love it.

8.5/10. ①Poor, sensitive, strong, and brave 18-year-old heroine (single-parent family, mother is an alcoholic who gave up on herself and no job), but was either rejected or fired soon after looking for a job, and even backstabbed a good male friend in the process . ②Through rough picture + real scene shooting + natural light rendering, it has a sense of cruelty with real texture. ③Through the (shaking) handheld (long) lens + a lot of close-ups and close-ups to create a sense of "intense" cruelty, but through very little soundtrack, a lot of use of off-painting space, and a lot of omission of the character's psychological curve to create a "stern" feeling. ' cruelty. Although both are cruel and the overall balance is good, but after all, the temperament is dislocated, so the power of the image is undoubtedly greatly limited.
