After watching the exhibition, a friend recommended this movie, saying that the costumes and scenes are highly restored, and it will be a better experience to enjoy it together with the paintings. I was impressed by the film's gorgeous costumes and meticulous shooting techniques, especially the night of St. Bartholomew, where every frame paused as a heavy oil painting.

The film itself is not easy to evaluate, and I don’t understand it very well. It should be about a religious war and a generation of court infighting. With the heroine Margaret as the main line, the stories of the characters are strung together, and the details of the lines are drawn.

Margaret was a pawn who was forced to marry the pagan King Henry of Navarre. She and Henry originally hated each other. Henry tried to win over Margaret for political purposes. Margaret began to help Henry save his life because of the dirty methods and cruelty of the French court. He returned to his homeland with the help of his father, and resumed his role as a pagan leader. And Margaret's lover, Count Larmor, became Margaret's mother's scapegoat and was eventually beheaded.
