"Quartet", 2012, directed by Dustin Hoffman, four-star recommendation.
Since ancient times, beautiful people are like famous generals, and they are not allowed to see white heads in the world. The more glorious the past, the more difficult it is to leave now. This "Quartet" kicked off in a musician's retirement home, and Maggie Smith's opera queen finally appeared.
Few people have the courage and wisdom to face aging, sickness and death. The film uses classical music as the background music, in the cheerful melody, endows it with comedy, and tells the story of solemn aging, the most cherished emotions and values in life. Seeing Jane and Reggie sitting under the tree in the play, they are deeply affectionate, like beautiful gentlemen, returning to the old days, beautiful and beautiful. Tom Courtenay, who played the hero Reggie, was well-dressed and full of demeanor. He looked like a handsome man. He found a photo of Tom when he was young (picture 3), and swallowed hard.
Maggie is one of my favourite actresses and a gem of British acting. Seeing her from the beginning, she seems to be an old lady, whether it is Professor McGonagall in "Harry Potter", or the lovely and mean old lady of the earl in "Downton Abbey", "A Room with a View" The stereotypical old lady in the show has almost become part of the United Kingdom, bringing British minutiae, tradition and history to the fore with superb performance artists such as Alan Rickman and Emma Thompson. Be sure to find a copy of her youthful movies to watch.
The supporting roles are also wonderful, and the other two in the quartet are full of personality. There is also the bully Sidrick, who is the favorite Dumbledore headmaster Michael Gambon, who plays a domineering and capable old man vividly. The director turned out to be Dustin Hoffman, awesome! The aesthetic taste is first-rate, the lens editing is beautiful, and the sense of humor resolves the cruelty of reality and the sorrow of old age. Not profound, but beautiful enough.
Everyone grows old and leaves. I just hope to be as calm as Mr. Yang Jiang:
I don't fight with anyone
I don't care to argue with anyone
i love nature
The second is art
I warm my hands with the fire of life
fire wilted
i'm leaving too
