In-depth analysis of "Padman": The experience of Indian women is terrible! Partners doomed to part ways

Maymie 2022-04-13 09:01:06

In the last article, I have analyzed the problem that Indian imported films in mainland cinemas have become increasingly "shoddy" in the past two years.

But as soon as "Partners in India" came out, I watched it anyway.

This movie is about an Indian man copying foreign sanitary pads, which solves the problem of Indian women's "difficulty in using sanitary pads" .

Therefore, this movie is also called "The Padman".

It's still all kinds of coincidences that drive the plot .

For example, the protagonist Lakshmi was worried that the copycat version of sanitary napkins could not be tested, and his Bole came...

The first time I contacted the American manufacturer that produces cellulose fibers (the main body of sanitary napkins), the other party sent him samples.

He lied about the size of his business, but the other party didn't even verify it...

The first time I participated in the Indian National Innovation Conference, I won the highest award.

A small workshop for the production of sanitary napkins composed of simple machines, which still produces fake products, has even entered the stage of the United Nations...

The words are flamboyant enough, but the Indians' bragging rights are also evident .

The real "Padman", Arunachalam, the "Father of Aunt's Towel" in India, took ten years to succeed.

He has only given talks at TED.

(TED is a private non-profit organization in the United States that brings together outstanding figures in the fields of science and design to share their thinking and exploration.)

Arunacharam

The Indian government abolished import duties on sanitary napkins in July this year .

Previously, the import duty on sanitary pads in India was as high as 12% .

For a long time, women in rural India could not afford sanitary pads.

In the first half of the movie, the "purgatory" of Indian women is truly restored .

Over 80% of Indian women replace sanitary pads with dirty rags, leaves, stove ashes...

From Trailer - Documentary Edition

A rag has been washed and washed, and it must be covered with a sari when drying, and slowly dried in the shade...

A woman must live on the balcony outside when she comes to her aunt, no matter whether it is cold or hot...

These incredible things happen because—

Aunts are regarded as filth in India, and they are shunned by men, women and children .

Anyone who blatantly talks about "aunt" or "sanitary napkins" is considered a pervert.

Even the woman herself said:

"We women, would rather die of disease than use it (sanitary pads)."

Lakshmi's wife

It can be seen that it is one thing to not be able to afford it, it is mainly to be ashamed to use it .

I doubt that the 12% tariff imposed by the Indian government is intentional, Indian men don't want women to use this "filth".

And women, under the support of men, have been foolishly and horribly "defending" their predicament .

Look, the main force who killed the "Padman" was a woman.

His wife left him.

His sister scolded him for not allowing him to step into her husband's house in the future.

Mother hugs her head and weeps...

The sisters avoided him and ignored him.

The whole village drove him away.

The real restoration of the first half, brought about by the strong appeal , made up for the collapse of the second half of the plot.

Another high point of the film is that Lakshmi falls in love with someone else .

Lakshmi fell in love with his bole, Parry.

She was beautiful, intellectual, and more importantly, she made him.

Parry is from the big city of Delhi and received the best education.

Lakshmi, on the other hand, came from a rural village in central India and only had a junior high school culture.

Like Rika and Wanji in "Tokyo Love Story". Lixiang takes Wanzhi to integrate into the city, and Parry takes Lakshmi to see the world .

In contrast, Lakshmi's original wife was timid, ignorant, and stubborn, like a cowering quail.

If you have seen the majestic appearance of an eagle, how can you be attracted by a quail again?

Indian films talk about women's rights, and women's self-help has always been placed in a very high position .

For example, in "Mysterious Superstar", Yin Xia, who is always fighting.

and the mother who finally launched the uprising.

"The Padman" will make the awakening of women more subtle and advanced .

The first half presents the shocking ignorance of Indian women, and the second half puts Parry and his wife in stark contrast.

Although in the end, Lakshmi chose to go back to his wife, we all know that Parry was a better fit for him.

His wife couldn't understand him and deserted him when he needed help the most.

Look back to him when he is successful.

Parry gave Lakshmi a hand when he was at the darkest time in his life.

Teach him to sell, give him a chance, and help him get on the world stage.

In the end, in order not to restrain him, he left gracefully.

But why did Lakshmi end up choosing his wife instead of Parry ?

Because this is another Tokyo Love Story .

There is a huge gap between the wife and Lakshmi, so why not Lakshmi and Parry?

No matter how successful Lakshmi may be, he will always live in Parry's light.

Origin, knowledge, these things in the bones are difficult to change.

In "East", Wanzhi from a small place will feel inferior when facing Lixiang from a big city.

The same may be true of Lakshmi facing Parry.

The chasm between people should not be that deep.

It is the gap between urban and rural areas in India, and the many ills and bad habits that still persist to this day, creating this gap .

Prototype character Arunacharam's wife

It's just that Indians have the courage to make their sore spots public.

If it weren't for this "Padman", how long would the congressmen who are working hard to cancel the tariff on sanitary napkins have to hold on?

So, even if there are more "coincidences" in "The Padman", I am willing to recommend it.
