Watching the movie "July 22" on the last night of November: the wind blows the yellow sand, and unscrupulousness is a disease

This November, strong winds roared the yellow sand.

The entertainment industry is a big producer of melons, but this November seems to be extraordinarily large. There are also relatively more social casualties this November.

However, in 30 days, there are countless popular events: the truth of Chongqing bus crashing into the river, Lanhai Expressway accident with 15 dead and 45 injured, Yan Yalun cheating on a tender man, the secret of a five-star hotel cup, handing over the national flag in a marathon, Hangzhou city officials violently beating dogs, There are African swine fever epidemics in many places, Yu Minhong's theory of female depravity, D&G insulting China to protest the whole network, Jiang Jinfu's domestic violence arrest in Japan, Meng Tingwei's divorce inside the dog blood, Leshan car crashing into a bus station, 7 dead and 4 injured, explosion near Zhangjiakou chemical plant 22 deaths, the birth of a gene-edited baby, Chen Yufan was arrested for drug addiction, Xue Zhiqian was unable to write a new chapter, Hong Kong tour bus collided with a taxi, 5 killed and 30 injured...

However, there is one thing that should be continuously tracked, but it seems to have suddenly lost its popularity:

On November 22, in Huludao, Liaoning Province, a 29-year-old man drove his car and rammed people in front of a primary school, killing 6 children and injuring 18 others. After the man was arrested, he confessed that he committed suicide because of the conflict between his husband and wife, and randomly chose the target of the crime.

A recent development is: On November 27, the reporter learned from the official website of the Ministry of Education that after the Huludao collision case, the Office of the Education Steering Committee of the State Council issued a notice on strengthening winter safety work in primary and secondary schools (kindergartens).

However, the follow-up of the case itself seems to have been difficult to see in the newspapers. Of course, it may be a requirement for stability maintenance, or it may be that there is no node for further investigation of the case.

We will also not forget that 24 hours after the accident, in the snow, many citizens came to the accident site and lit 3,600 candles to show their condolences.

After a rough review, in fact, there have been many cases of indiscriminate harm to society this year——

• On April 27, in Mizhi, Shaanxi Province, a post-90s man armed with a dagger attacked middle school students after school, resulting in 9 deaths and 12 injuries. The motive for the crime was to retaliate against his alma mater, and the criminal was executed on September 27.

• On June 22, in Xi'an, Shaanxi, a 40-year-old man wounded people with a knife on a bus. After getting off the bus, he continued to attack, causing 4 deaths and 8 injuries. The motive of the crime is to generate world-weariness due to investment failure and other reasons, and to deliberately take revenge on the society.

• On June 25, in Yantai, Shandong, a 45-year-old man drove a forklift into a frantic crash, killing one person and injuring more than ten others. The man was shot dead by police on the spot.

• On June 28, in Shanghai, a 29-year-old unemployed man hacked to death two elementary school students with a kitchen knife and wounded one elementary school student and one female parent. The murderer claimed to have "the idea of revenge on the society because of the lack of life".

• On August 20, in Liuzhou, Guangxi, a 54-year-old man rammed his car and wounded people along the road with a knife, resulting in 6 deaths and 12 injuries. The motive of the crime is to retaliate and kill to vent his anger due to emotional entanglement.

• On September 12, in Hengdong County, Hunan Province, a 54-year-old man deliberately and violently rammed his car into the crowd, then got out of the car and slashed the crowd with a weapon, resulting in 11 deaths and 44 injuries.

• On October 26, in Banan District, Chongqing, a 39-year-old woman attacked with a knife at the gate of a kindergarten, causing 14 children to be injured to varying degrees.

There is no doubt that procedural justice must be followed when punishing criminals. Like the Shaanxi Mizhi case, the criminals were put to death five months after the incident, which is very fast.

In these kinds of cases, I am most concerned about the psychology of criminals, which is why they do such things.

It is said that there must be a reason for things to happen, but psychological problems themselves are mysterious. In the eyes of ordinary people, this kind of revenge society is definitely useless to eliminate world-weary emotions, but why do people always take this road?

On the last night of this November, I watched the movie "July 22nd".

Shortlisted for the main competition section at this year's Venice Film Festival. A few days ago, I won the Free Expression Award at the 90th National Review Association Awards.

The film is set in the background of the bombings that took place in Norway on July 22, 2011.

Norwegian Breivik first detonated a powerful car bomb in front of the Norwegian government office building, and then shot and killed the crowd participating in the Norwegian Labour Party youth summer camp on Uter Island, 40 kilometers west of the capital Oslo, killing 77 people and more than 300 people. Hurt.

Norwegian police sources said the attack appeared to have nothing to do with an international terrorist group and more like the actions of a mad man.

This film is a feature film, not a documentary. Although it follows a realistic image style, it will naturally have a cinematic treatment.

The film opens with sunshine, forest, and hut. The cross-narrative, on the one hand, describes Breivik's preparation work, driving to the city, and sneaking into his own home, with a grim face; on the other hand, it describes the youths going to the summer camp on Ute Island, with laughter and laughter, the contrast between the two is stark.

What's special about this group of young people on the island is that they all intend to enter politics in the future, and most of them have family members who are engaged in politics.

In Breivik's line, from making explosives, mixing firearms, writing manifestos, lighting car bombs, and killing people on the island, it can be described as every step of the way.

He detonated a car bomb in front of the government building, causing chaos (the Prime Minister escaped from home office that day), and immediately drove to Ute Island. Because he was wearing a police uniform and pretending to be a police officer, and his words and deeds were very calm, he easily obtained the To gain trust, take a ferry to the island and have the person in charge gather everyone together for a so-called safety briefing. The security officer was still a little vigilant, but he was shot to death immediately, and he was quite experienced in making up shots.

Then Breivik immediately started a killing spree, killing anyone he saw, and searching everywhere.

Some young people want to pretend to be dead, but he is obviously like a professional killer, and he will make up shots one by one and never let go.

One of the youths was named Via, who was shot a few times and still survived.

After the police arrived, Breivik did not resist, and quickly surrendered and was arrested, but there was no fear in the whole process.

The film is 2 hours and 24 minutes long, and it only took 32 minutes to restore the tragedy. Next, the plot turns to the rescue of survivors and the interrogation of Breivik.

The story line is still multiple perspectives, Via and his family, government police, defense lawyers, and Breivik.

Via was seriously injured, but somehow saved his life. I don't know if it was the infectiousness of the language of the camera, or it was more emotional to watch the movie this night. When his father asked at the victim reception center, "Has he been shot?", he was very tearful.

Breivik was quick to name his name, his motives and his political demands (to ban immigration altogether, to end multiculturalism), and threatened an attack if the prime minister did not agree. He was prepared for everything and appointed a defense attorney.

He is very cooperative with the police in everything he does, and he sees the police interrogation as a negotiation. Not only was he calm, he asked for food and drink, and he asked the medical staff to treat his fingers that were cut by the skull of the deceased. He also took a very tough stance. Even knowing that the Prime Minister was watching, he was frivolous.

The government's biggest concern is to explore the reasons behind what he did.

The defense lawyer started from Breivik's original family and upbringing, and found that the confession did not match the findings of the investigation. Although the lawyer did not recognize his behavior, out of professional ethics, he was still prepared to use "mental disorder" as the defense entry. Breivik responded by laughing and saying "people are going to be pissed".

Experts have determined that Breivik has a history of paranoid schizophrenia for many years, and if the court accepts this, it means he will be sent to the hospital and escape the pain of prison.

As a result, Breivik himself jumped out and denied that he was mentally ill, saying that he was playing a demon before, when in fact he was a warrior, and he did this to control the situation and speak in court.

After Via woke up, not only was there physical pain (which required two to three years of recovery), but also was tortured by nightmares, and there were still fragments of shrapnel left near the brain stem, which was also a ticking time bomb for future life.

Everyone around her told Via that everything would be okay, and Via was pretending that everything would be okay, but it wasn't. After all, when she couldn't convince herself, the dark experience was a bottomless pit that couldn't be forgotten.

He asked painfully: Tell me, how should I live?

His father said: I don't know, I just hope that it is me who is hurt, not you.

The court agreed that Breivik appeared in court to defend himself. In order to prevent the trial from becoming his political propaganda, it was necessary for witnesses to come out and tell everything they had experienced.

But the survivors were shy about confronting the murderer out of trauma. Via finally decided to testify in court, and it was his appearance that finally made Breivik in the dock feel a little uneasy and nervous.

Via's testimony beat Breivik's bravado pride, moved everyone in the courtroom, and moved us in the audience—

I didn't want to cry, I especially didn't want to cry in front of him, I wanted to stay strong because I was going to do it for them (the victims) so they wouldn't be forgotten.
When I was left on the beach, I didn't know if I was alive or dead, and I've been stuck there ever since. But now, I realize, I still have options. Because I still have family, friends, memories, dreams, hope, and love, and he doesn't, he's completely alone. He would spend the rest of his life in prison and I survived. I choose to live.

In the movie, Breivik was sentenced to indefinite solitary confinement, while in reality he only served 21 years.

Pictures from the scene show the real Breivik smiling after hearing the verdict.

For the high civilization of the West, it is civilization to abolish the death penalty, and it is civilization to give criminals the same human rights, but for the victims and even other people, it takes a high level to understand this.

And I only remember what my friend said to Via: showing weakness doesn't mean not being strong.

What do you do when there is a sociopath around you? In a book called "The Sociopath Next Door" (the Chinese translation is called "Be careful, unscrupulousness is a disease"), he said: Never try to influence TA in vain. Spread your feet, run away, run away as far as possible. Leaving TA is your best choice.

Sad November is over.

The stars will light up in December, will the road to the new year be lit up?

Latest news: Beijing has banned outdoor group activities from December 1 due to heavy air pollution.
