Interesting idea, but at the expense of hilarious script, crappy acting, and unknown director

"The Clones" is a good sci-fi thriller with some interesting concepts and ideas, but it's held back by a poor script, logic, and dull acting.

Spoiler ahead, William (Keanu Reeves) works at a biomedical research facility working on transplanting dead human brains into robots. This research is very difficult and has not been successful so far. William's wife Mona (Alice Eve), sons Matt (Emjay Anthony), Sophie (Emily Erin Lynd) and Zoe (Aria Leb) ) gets into a car accident and William ends up being a mad scientist at all costs to save his family. The movie could have been better. It has a very interesting concept like cloning humans and transferring their minds to new bodies. There are also scary ideas like erasing memories. William wants to save his family, defying the laws of nature and becoming a mad scientist. He stole the lab equipment, put it in the basement of his house, and spent sleepless nights studying. Even Williams' colleague and friend Ed (Thomas Middleditch) is starting to worry about Williams' obsession with research.

Sadly, the visuals in this movie are terrible, especially in the robot birth scene, which looks like a bad clay figurine. Second, there are some ridiculous dialogues in the script that are out of place or unbelievable. The first hour of the movie is tedious, we only see a mad scientist busy with his crazy research when just watching Keanu Reeve's mad scientist act with his experiments. His acting is a bit chaotic, as if it's hard to find the character's emotion.

Keanu Reeves plays an emotionless mad scientist in this film. A single type of role is more suitable for him. Alice Eve is as decent as her character. Thomas Middleditch is good too. And John Ortiz's quintessential villain is unforgettable.

Overall, the movie isn't quite a memorable sci-fi movie.
