Twilight 2.0

This show has been my procrastinator since it aired. Sitting in the Bod's library and watching the heroine pretend to be doing research is really a tense and lively experience, but unfortunately when I look at it, there are only a lot of words left.

My expectations for this show are very high. After all, the original author is indeed a scholar, and Matthew Goode's appearance and acting skills are indeed online for a long time. However, it is irrational for people to be lustful. The heroine got the Yale tenure as soon as she graduated, and she is about to get the Oxford lectureship. This setting is a crit for our group of bald academics. In contrast, her best friend who received a lunch box in minutes is more relatable - to be honest, it is not bad to have an undergraduate thesis to approve. What are you mocking, male lead?

I finished 8 episodes a few weeks ago, I thought there would be at least 2 more episodes, but the first season ended like this! I was stunned one, two, three, four, five. What was the first season about? The main contradiction (everyone wants the Ashmole manuscript) came out in the first episode, and the second episode introduced a witch Satu who looked really awesome, and the only achievement she made for a long time was to rescue a long-term illegal witch. Imprisoned (.) senior witch. The Congregation is a game, their decision doesn't even have any practical effect, anyway, Baldwin should listen to the Knights or the Knights, Satu and Gerbert should catch the heroine or the heroine, Juliette should beat the hero or the hero, etc.etc.

The ability of the heroine Diana can currently be summarized as "use any ability that is needed in any situation where it is needed" - translated into human words, this is called "gold finger". What else can I say when the male protagonist is running away, she can give herself the rain in a timely manner to enhance the atmosphere? Only shut up and be amazed.

As for the male lead. Um. A domineering president who inexplicably loves the heroine, who turns out to be not so domineering president - what is the level of Juliette's heart in the last episode? Saying that Matthew is good at fighting?

But I think the biggest problem so far is that the logic of the world has not been established. Take witchcraft as an example. Of course, it is not for you to explain the principle of each spell, but it must conform to a certain logic, right? The water, fire, and wind spells that have appeared so far, as well as other inexplicable abilities such as divination, seal, and time walk, all feel extremely random, and it is impossible to predict what can be achieved with spells and what cannot. The most amazing thing should be that the two of them had a short time walk in the eighth episode, and they didn't even seem to understand how to get back to the present. The magical world also needs to talk about the Basic Law, right?

Not to mention vampires and elves. What are the characteristics of vampires? Longevity + super recovery ability + inhuman speed + special recipe? What about elves? How are they different from humans? ?

Tucao returns to Tucao, the second season is out, I guess I will still watch it with disgust and integrity. Hope next season won't be so confusing plz.

A Discovery of Witches quotes

  • Matthew Clairmont: [Opening narration, season one] Once the world was full of wonders, but it belongs to the humans now. We, creatures, have all but disappeared. Daemons... vampires... witches... hiding in plain sight. Ill at ease even with each other. But, as my father used to say, in every ending, there is a new beginning.

  • From opening credit: It begins with absence and desire. It begins with blood and fear. It begins with A Discovery Of Witches.
