Watching this movie, and the trailer it gives, is simply not a country. It's as if you're expecting an alien-like monster movie, but you're actually talking about a normal drama. In this sense, the movie is a real disappointment.
However, what I want to say here is not this, but this movie caused me some thinking.
The background setting in it is actually our present and present, although I have seen some people comment that since the earth's resources are facing depletion, why should we trigger wars and make the whole environment of the earth worse?
He thinks this setting is unreasonable, oh, I think this is really in line with reality. In the history of our country, foreign nations such as the Jin Kingdom have invaded our dynasty many times. What are they for? Because they are nomads, their resources and food are not enough, so they hope to be stationed in the Central Plains and gain the vast territory of our dynasty.
What does this history have to do with the question I raised earlier? The relationship is big, don't the nomads know that their grazing will destroy the grasslands? Why don't they try to change their way of life or improve their living environment?

So, back to our theme, we have to admit that the problem of population expansion in the film is already an inevitable problem. The lack of resources, food shortages, and environmental pollution are all imminent crises. Therefore, the fantasy of human genetic evolution in the film is a bit subtle.
Especially in such a close-to-real setting, not only is it a wake-up call, but I feel a little scared. Is not our future, must face such a choice. Not the fantasy of immigrating to aliens, but genetic modification.
I assume, if in the short term, our technology cannot achieve mass interstellar immigration technology. Then, the problems raised before still cannot be improved in a short time, and even worsened as the film envisaged.
We have come to a point where we must change our genes to adapt to a situation where the climate is unbalanced, the water, soil and air environment is deteriorating, and food is severely lacking. Since we have no way to immigrate to other planets, we can only change our genes.
We humans are going to completely change our respiratory system, external appearance, and even the digestive system, diet, and so on when we eat from the inside out. If one day, we must become like the hero in the movie, in order to continue to survive on this earth.
So, do we choose to remain human and die, or become a 'monster' to survive?
Although evolution is a long process, it is impossible for any species to complete the process of evolution in a short time under natural conditions. But our biotechnology has progressed to a dangerous level. We have neither bottle caps nor time constraints, only the constraints of public opinion and morality.
As long as everything is hidden from the public eye, anything can happen. Because we have wisdom, you and I don't know how far we will develop in an untouchable field.
