Reality in troubled times

"In our hometown, people are the most priceless treasures,

It makes more sense to speak than to raise the volume;

After all, it is rain that nourishes flower growth, not thunder. "

I have recently read some books and movies about the war in Afghanistan under the Taliban rule. We, who are living in peacetime, cannot feel the wars that are taking place on the other side of the world. In the midst of coming and going, what supports them is the affection between ordinary people and the tenacity of the nation.

Compared with the impeccable and beautiful life depicted in "Dream Hunter", perhaps the troubled times in "The Breadwinner" are more realistic.

    I still prefer the animation of the old world. The protagonist does not have the aggressiveness and hyperactivity produced by Disney, nor does it have so many high-tech stacks. The form is simple, but it can better understand the terrible religious atmosphere and the complexity of human nature. Stories can tame elephant kings, and writing can move gangsters. Although naive, ordinary people can only rely on these fantasies to relieve their grief. The streets are changed by blocking, and the narratives are connected by myths, which are all great.

    At the beginning of seeing the movie poster, I thought of the secrets of the Kells, Song of the Sea and the Prophet. As expected, the film has the same blood. The two-line painting style and the two-line plot are echoed and combined into one, from green, yellow, blue to red, from forest, ocean, desert to land. Many directors have their own style, but a good director is a style that depicts a wonderful world.

The Breadwinner quotes

  • Parvana: Artesh. I remembered my name. It's Artesh.

    Shauzia: That's not really a name.

    Parvana: It means fire.

    Shauzia: I know what it means, but it's still not a name.

    Parvana: Then it suits me fine.

  • Shauzia: When you're a boy, you can go anywhere you like.
