poverty

I watched this movie because I was attracted by the ? in the poster.

This is the life of the real American underclass. I watched a documentary before, about low-income people in the United States, and it was exactly the same. The same motel, children wandering around with nothing to do, most of them are single mothers with their children. The mother has no skills and no stable job to support herself and her children. She eats a meal without a meal, and most of the food relies on social assistance. Children are also used to this poor life, but without a good educational environment, they may continue to live like this when they grow up. Poverty is a genetic disease. The country with the highest GDP in the world still cannot fully solve the problem of the poor. Since the founding of the United States, the United States has taken a different path from that of its suzerainty, Europe, choosing freedom between free competition and fairness, and choosing the capable between the abundance of the capable and the welfare society, so the gap between the rich and the poor is larger. China is also on the same path now. The poor are getting poorer and the rich are getting richer. The regional differences in social welfare, basic medical care, and education have not been resolved for a long time. People at the bottom have no channels to speak out, and movies that focus on social issues are banned. Young people living in cities do not know what the mountains and countryside are like, and are lost in the illusion of high-rise buildings. The middle class is very anxious, anxious about buying a home, immigrating, and educating children. Everyone feels that there is something wrong with this society, but no antidote can be found. With the development of urbanization, many farmers have lost their land, and farmers without land have nothing, just like Money and her mother in the movie. Without land, no house, and no skills, life is unsustainable.

I always feel that many of the current practices are overdrafting citizens' trust in public power and overdrafting people's courage to speak the truth. This has hurt society for more than one generation.

At the beginning of the story, you can feel the difference in this community. The houses are colorful, sparsely populated, there is no chaos and crowding, and there are consumption places with exaggerated architectural features near the slums. There are several places in the film that hint at the place where things happened. Couples who strayed here, fireworks at night, bracelets that were resold at low prices, and the community is in Disney Forte. In the last scene, when they were about to part, the two little girls ran all the way into the paradise. It turned out to be so close, and suddenly felt a little sad for no reason.

  • Moonee: You know why this is my favorite tree?

    Jancey: Why?

Moonee: 'Cause it's tipped over, and it's still growing.

  • Moonee: [Moonee and Scooty, sitting on a sofa, eating ice-cream cones] Mmm.

Bobby: [Ice cream drips on floor] Ok, I warned you: one drip and you're out.

    Moonee: Oh, come on!

    Bobby: 'Out now.

    Scooty: It's gonna melt outside.

    Bobby: It's melting' inside too.

    Moonee: But Bobby!

    Bobby: Out.

Bobby: [Moonee and Scooty walk out] Thank you very much!

    Moonee: You're not welcome!
