German flavor - poison!

German Opera - Poison! Recently, I was watching the German drama "Babylon Berlin", and I was deeply caught up in it, unable to extricate myself. I thought that the American drama "Godless" I watched not long ago was the most textured drama since 2017, but I didn't expect that the German production was so grand and exquisite, it was amazing! If the texture of "Godless" lies in freehand brushwork, then the texture of "Babylon Berlin" lies in realism. The series presents a three-dimensional historical time and space before the birth of Hitler when the Weimar Republic was precarious in the 1920s. Every living being in the flashy world is wonderful. Several main lines go hand-in-hand and the narrative is not chaotic, with multiple side stories interspersed during the period, showing the screenwriter's super-powerful control over the script pattern. The performances, photography, scenes, and soundtracks are all excellent, just like watching a world famous book in a TV series. Out of the incomparable admiration for the male protagonist of the show, the melancholy brother, I took advantage of the trend to search for the three-episode mini-drama "Our Fathers" starring him in 2013 to watch. I don't know if I don't watch it. This show is also a masterpiece! The plot is more popular and moving than Babylon, and the oily "German flavor" presented in the picture is even more intoxicating. I have always liked to watch war films narrated from the perspective of the defeated side. If the Japanese film is mostly about exaggerating sadness, the Germans are more rational reflection. The play tells the story of five flower-like young Germans who were involved in World War II in different ways. The five people have their own joys and sorrows. The main line is the two brothers who participated in the Wehrmacht. The elder brother was transformed from an excellent grass-roots officer into a collapsed escape from the war, while the younger brother gradually grew up from a literary youth with freedom and anti-war ideology into a courageous and calm professional soldier. No matter what they choose, they can only become the sinners of history as accomplices of Hitler's war machine. Instead of blaming the "Führer" for all historical guilt alone, the Germans seriously reflect on how each individual has been coerced from a pure "patriotic youth" into a small part in a huge violent machine in the torrent of history. Hitler was not alone, but represented the mainstream of German nationals at that time. "Break the Soviet Union and return to Berlin for Christmas" and "Jews threaten the survival of the Germans" were almost the common ideas of the entire German people in 1941. Crazy state machines created crazy citizens, and the price paid was extremely painful.
