suffering of others

"Born in a brothel". In 2004, it won the Oscar for Best Documentary Film.

This documentary has been vaguely seen a long time ago, and it is a bit emotional to watch it again recently.

It's hard to imagine what it's like to grow up in a red light district. Not only material poverty and filth, but unacceptable foul language is also a normal daily life. The children here, their fate seems to be like the most vicious curse written by Jin Yong: men are slaves all the time, women are prostitutes all the time. One of the girls said in front of the camera that life is inherently painful, and you must learn to endure this pain.

When pain becomes a matter of course, pleasure becomes heinous.

No one wants to change their destiny in the past until there is an outside force. The photographer named Zana put point-and-shoot cameras into the hands of children and told them not to press the shutter in a hurry, the proportion of the composition, the meaning of the photo, and the flash must be turned on when taking pictures at night... These children in the red light district There seems to be a new form of entertainment, but what they don't know is that taking pictures is slowly changing their lives.

In addition to teaching children to take pictures, Zana is also running around, hoping to get these red light district children into boarding schools, so they have a chance to leave the industry permanently. Thankfully, at the end of the film, one of the boys, Avijit, gets a chance to go to a film festival in Amsterdam. Ten years later, he has self-finished college in the US and hopes to become a photographer.

However, there is also invisible resistance, which is everywhere like air. One of the girls in the film still chooses to be a prostitute.

The background of this documentary is so far away from me that although it is a documentary, it looks like watching a movie. And it's a somewhat inspiring reality film. It is very difficult for people to change their destiny, but it is precisely because of the difficulty that success is valuable. As for those children who did not seize the opportunity and stepped back into the reincarnation of their parents, it is inevitable that they have a heart that hates iron. However, who has experienced the feeling of mother picking up guests downstairs and flying kites on the top floor?

I had no choice but to look at the suffering of others with eyes that flashed through sadness.

"Since then, I decided to love him a little more." The beginning of a life that was powerless to reverse did have such a soul yearning for truth, goodness and beauty.
