Based on the tone of the previous drama The Good Wife, the entire TV series returns to the story of women and lawyers, and I like the growth and wisdom of every character in it.
The story of the first episode begins with the twist of fate for Dianne, Maia. Dianne has reached retirement age and is looking forward to starting a new life in her dream French villa. Maia has finally been admitted to the lawyer's license and is about to start a hard life. But Maia's father is suddenly accused of an investment scam, which implicates Dianne, making her not only unable to retire, but even about to be deprived of a decent daily life.
Maia learned overnight that her father had been arrested and faced a possible 20-year sentence. She stepped into a new job with a bright face the day before, and suddenly found herself surrounded by countless calls and messages from strangers, all of which were insults and threats, asking her to take joint responsibility.
The fate of the characters in the opening chapter took such a sharp turn, I had to admire the screenwriter's ability to quickly explain the background and character selection. The 22-year-old's life suddenly changed color, and the 60-year-old's life took a sharp turn. The shock, panic, worry, hesitation, struggle, and how to deal with it were all explained in the first episode.
I was impressed by what Lucca said to Maia, who was hiding in the toilet crying: "Harden yourself, ignore what people say. Keep your head down and keep working. Work is your friend. Don't give them the satisfaction of making eye contact . It's hard, but it ends.”
Life has changed dramatically, and Maia and Dianne chose to face it. Maia chose to endure all the accusations and work silently, waiting for her strength to accumulate and the outcome of the case to be heard. Dianne chose to return to the workplace. The partner of the law firm she founded gave up her, and the friends who had praised her in every possible way also refused to join her. It is not uncommon for people to experience these cold eyes and cold meals when they live to be 60 years old, but she swallowed them all, without crying or cursing out of control. Her former rival, Adrian, invites her to join her law firm to win back her lost life and dignity, and she finds a new way out. At this point, I have to admire Dianne's excellent business ability, which has helped her to become a bright future.
When she arrived at the new law firm, she needed to pay a partner subscription fee of US$100,000. Dianne was anxious but still worked in an orderly manner. Just when she was about to sell her apartment to pay the subscription fee, she saw an opportunity with the initiative of an old client. She used her network resources to persuade other senior partners to transfer the share of contracted old clients directly to the law firm as subscription money. Here, Dianne once again fought a beautiful internal battle with her business prowess and agility.
It will be very refreshing to see such a reversal of the fate of the characters when watching the drama, because it is full of ups and downs. In real life, if I can have the strength and hard power of the protagonist, then I will definitely be able to live the way I want in various environments. When things are going well, see her happy in spring. In adversity, watch her bounce back!
