The film tells a story set in a small village near the Barents Sea, but could also take place in any country where personal interests collide with those of the regime and it is clear in advance who will win the battle. The insatiable mayor has set his sights on the house where the Nikolai family lived, and attempted to seize the land for nothing—in fact, by force.
