next stop, heaven

The long documentary-style interview is a bit boring, but the subject matter is still heartwarming. Those who are about to go to heaven will have three days at this transit station to decide to keep a memory in their lives, make a video, and take this happiest memory to the next station. The grandfather who has gone through a long time finally found the happiest and simple afternoon by watching the videotape of his life; the rebellious teenager who is in his twenties does not want to be bound by the past and ends up staying at the transfer station; the memory of the 9-year-old grandmother never stops. Talk, but show everyone what you love most without reservation.

If I were to choose one of the happiest moments in my past life, I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to choose. If someone is really willing to work so hard for me to go to heaven with the happiest memories, then this is probably the most heartwarming thing for me. The line of Grandpa Watanabe, Mochizuki and Shiori is very touching, seeing the infinite possibilities and infinite ways of love. Mochizuki decided to take pictures of others as his happiest memory after watching Kyoko's video, because this job made him see that he also existed in the happiest moments of others. Therefore, we should pay tribute to these great directors, to be content with filming, and to pass on art for happiness.

After Life quotes

  • Kenji Yamamoto, who wants to forget his past: Say I choose a memory, from when I was eight or ten years old. Then I'll only remember how I felt back then? I'll be able to forget everything else? Really? You can forget? Well, then that really is heaven.
