Maybe I'm the only one who understands you

After watching "Birdman", the most unforgettable scene in Birdman's dream is expressed from the first point of view, he is flying like a bird. This shot can be said to fascinate me. While feeling like flying like a bird, I also understand why the birdman wants to fly like a bird so much. Because you can see the scenery that people can't see, and at the same time give people a feeling of freedom.

In fact, aside from this characteristic shot, what touched me the most was the emotion of this movie—the emotion between Bird and Al.

Birdman has always been a freak in the eyes of others, but by chance, he and El met and became friends. Although no one understands Birdman, Al has been accompanying Birdman, catching birds, catching and releasing dogs, remodeling old cars, going to the beach, joining the army and going to the battlefield with him...

"He's part of my job."

"Shut up, he's part of my life!"

This is the line I remember the most in the whole show. When Al said that, I was shocked at the same time as the nurse on the show. You're a part of my life, what an important person it must be for Al to respond to nurses so instinctively.

When the doctor wanted to give up the treatment of the birdman again and again, Al seized every opportunity again and again to make the birdman return to normal and get out of the insane asylum. After Al's hope and then disappointment, he's on the verge of collapse. He was afraid that Birdman would never return to the past, and he was afraid that he would go crazy too.

At the end of the movie, Al is really desperate after trying the last thing Birdman's mother hid their baseballs, and the "recall part" of the movie also goes to the point where Al joins the army and leaves Birdman, and he goes with Birdman. Part of the beloved canary crashed and killed in front of Birdman. In the lunatic asylum, Al holds Birdman among the scattered baseball piles, and he tells Birdman that although he can't get a response, he has too much to tell Birdman. Al understood why the birdman did this, and even wished that he would be like the birdman. They had to stay together in a lunatic asylum or find a place where no one was there, not to communicate with outsiders, and only each other from now on.

In fact, no matter when he was young or in a lunatic asylum, when others didn't understand Birdman, Al was always the one who could understand and accept Birdman. Although he was angry and left because Birdman was once obsessed with birds and flying, in his heart, he always hoped that Birdman could be the same as normal people.

Finally, with Al's unremitting efforts, the birdman spoke, and Al was more excited than anyone else. He took the birdman and rushed out of the insane asylum with the doctor's stop.

In fact, I can't fully understand Birdman. I believe that many people can't understand Birdman just like me, but fortunately, he has Al's understanding. When he is crazy, he is accompanied by Al, and even has Al does everything he can to get him back to normal. After watching this movie, some people may be jealous that Birdman has such a close friend, but there is no way, who made him a part of Al's life!

Expressing concern for the young generation whose spiritual world has been devastated is an important motif in Alan Parker's works. From "Midnight Express" and "The Wall" to this work, there are young people who are sluggish for various reasons. Cage, who returned from an injury in the Vietnam War, came to a mental hospital to visit his childhood friend "Birdman" Modine who was mentally ill. From this, they started their teenage memories from acquaintance to the battlefield. Modine is keen on studying birds, dreams of flying freely in the sky, and even eats and lives with birds to the extent of nerd. In addition to aggravating the tragic character of this character with dreams that are not understood by ordinary people, there is also the connotation of using a bird as a metaphor for a person. Teenagers can rescue puppies from slaughterhouses and birds from the mouths of cats, but they cannot save themselves from war. The Cage of the victim actually needs to be healed as well). The photography is very good, whether it is the flying shot shown from the perspective of birds, or the imprisoned image created by the light and shadow of the cage (bird cage and mental hospital ward), they are all well done.

Such people should be real, incompatible with this world, but living in their own world at ease. Maybe the March boy was affected by this. The relationship between the two protagonists is too ambiguous, but it's not bad that something is unclear or unclear. Many scenes are amazing, and the movies of that era are really amazing.

Birdy quotes

  • Doctor Weiss: You mean the spitting?

    Sergeant Al Columbato: Yes.

Doctor Weiss: The army left a bad taste in his mouth.

  • Birdy: The dream is as real to me now as my waking life. I don't know where one begins and the other ends. I wish I could tell Al, but I'm afraid to. In my dreams, nothing holds me down. Everything's out and away. There's nothing in my life to keep me here anymore. I wish I could die and be born again as a bird.
