A Different Macbeth - Some Thoughts About EP05 Personal

When I was recommended by a friend, Secret Story No. 9 had already been released to the fourth season. For me, who is a self-proclaimed fan of American dramas, I am somewhat ashamed. The day before yesterday, I made an appointment with a friend to watch the legendary drama Sleep No More. I couldn't help but compare it with EP05, which also changed Macbeth as a prototype, so I decided to revisit 05 and express my own opinions.

As a series based on Macbeth, EP05 can be said to restore the gloomy and terrible story atmosphere written by Shakespeare very well. Combined with the lines in the play that fit the plot, it can make the audience familiar with Macbeth quickly Put the characters into the plot. However, the reversal of the plot is beyond everyone's expectations, and I have to admire Steve and Reece's unrestrained imagination, breakthrough brain holes and superb acting skills.

About Jim- As the protagonist in the play, Jim started out as a submissive, swaying in his heart, and then successfully took over the leading role. His career ambitions gradually swallowed up his conscience, and he quarreled with his fiancée and drew swords against each other. It can be said that it fits Shakespeare perfectly. An image of Macbeth. The three visions Jim saw in the play actually corresponded to the prophecies of the three witches in Macbeth, and they all came true in the follow-up development.

Regarding Kristie - the deepest understudy The biggest reversal of the overall situation, Kristie can be said to have no sense of existence in the overall situation except for the ending, but the needle hidden in Tony's costume also implies that she is the initiator behind the scenes. Out of admiration for Jim, she secretly framed Tony so that Jim could take the lead role. Even faking Jim's murder scene after stabbing his fiancée without his knowledge makes everything look like a suicide. Finally, he took the initiative to tell Jim the truth and put on the ring that belonged to his fiancee. It can be said that Kristie is the biggest understudy in the play

About Laura's death

Laura's death has been hinted at before, and the footage seen in Jim's second vision explains it well.

It's obvious that Jim's career ambitions have gradually swallowed him up after his fame, and Kriste may have angered Jim because of a marriage negotiation, or he was afraid that Laura would go public with what he did to Tony. In order to get rid of this burden, Jim stabbed him. He went to Laura and fled room 9 in a hurry, so he would be very surprised when Kriste told him that Laura committed suicide by cutting her wrists in the bathroom.

What he didn't know, however, was that Kriste, who had witnessed all this, went into Room 9 after him, killed Laura with his own hands, and pretended to commit suicide by cutting his wrists in the bathroom. It also plausibly explained why the ring that was still on Laura's hand in a pool of blood ended up on Kriste's hand.

At the end, Kriste's sentence 'I will be watching' is creepy. It turns out that everything I do has been watched by Kriste.

I would say enough of those who have been comparing Black Mirror to this one. Reece and Steve are totally creating stage plays, don't label Charlie Brooker's pretentious arrogance as inside no.9!
